I was looking at screencaps from the Blu-ray 3D, easily accessible via Google images. True, I haven't seen the whole movie, so I could be missing something, but it's easy to tell from a decent-sized random sample of images that the basic stereography is not on the same professional level as major US animated productions. See it for the story and animation but don't expect high quality 3D.

The Japanese 3d+2D Blu-ray will be released on March 23rd.
The movie was good, but not great, as it focuses way too much on the young kid / old man relationship rather than the original "The Little Prince" story with the stop motion scenes.

Imagine seeing "The Princess Bride", but if most of the movie was between Fred Savage and Peter Falk.... But I will admit there were a few tears shed.

USA Cinema Delay in U.S.

This movie is getting really great reviews in the States (93 on R.T.) but......

Paramount Pictures Drops ‘The Little Prince’ A Week Before Planned Release

http://movies.mxdwn.com/news/paramou...anned-release/

"Director Osborne took to Twitter to officially post the news and proclaimed The Little Prince will be released theatrically sometime later this year from another distributor. We will stay tuned to future developments."

Mark Osborne ‎@happyproduct

4/4 - Until then, head to Canada! The film opens there in wide release this weekend!

Thanks for the details Everret.
Good to hear the Canada release is still going for those who live in Canada or may be taking a vacation/trip there.

This is a terrific movie & 3D is done well (medium to strong). I got the French 3D BD. Recall there was an English audio track, but think opening/ending credits were in French. No pop-outs like someone already posted, but nice depth.

Nice to see HK BD release now.

The English "voice" role credits are presented after the final Paramount ending header on the French disc.

Looks like Netflix picked up Little Prince for distribution through Netflix. No release date. I wonder how that will affect a later blu ray option in stores.

Importing movies I really enjoyed and in 3D is one thing for $30+, but importing movies I haven't seen yet depends on how strong the 3D is and if it's a movie I'd watch at least once every year. This looks interesting, but I'll wait for more feedback on the 3D and story.

Went with the French one. I almost went for the Hong Kong version but they wanted $55 shipped. I got it for $32 shipped via Amazon.fr.

Well I don't imagine Netflix will be showing this in 3D and chances for a theatrical 3D showing is looking slimmer and slimmer, so this looks like it might be my next import.

Eflay prices seem about the same as Amazon, so next question is to determine which version to import. Region is of no concern to me. I like lenticular sleeves when they're availible but have the impression there isn't one for this one. Beyond that, I mainly just want English soundtrack and no forced subs.

Any differences between regional versions - fr, hk, jp (,au?) - I should know about?
And if the versions are pretty much equal then the most economical one will do.

Just hope the 3D strength is better than Boxtrolls, which I still liked, but one of the weakest 3D presentations in my collection next to a couple of horrible conversions such as "I Robot".

it is ... at times I wanted to reach into the screen.

there's a great shot of looking down onto a cityscape - for me, it gave me the impression of vertigo.

I really didn't mind the original story being the story within the story. It gave it a fresh reinterpretation.

I loved both the CGI and stop motion design. Overall this is one blind buy I've been really happy to see and own in my video collection.

Default The Little Prince 3D

I'm seeing a Canadian release date of July 19, 2016, for a Blu-ray of the recent animated version of The Little Prince, but nothing specifying a 3D release.

I'm eager to check this out, but want it in 3D; does anybody have any info about when/whether we'll get an English-language, Region A, 3D Blu-ray release of this title?

The only region A, English language 3D versions I see are from Japan and China. You can try there.
