Just watched this disc, no way is it a new remaster.
It looks practically identical to the German release. DNR, white specs and slight telecine judder. Another dated Universal master, the US review will give you an idea how it looks. Some shots look surprisingly good, others incredibly soft. Oh well, at least there are some decent extras |

The extras are exceptional, long and in-depth.
The whole disc looks to be a direct port of the US Scream Factory edition. All extras feature their logo. Not hating on Second Sight for this release, in fact commending them for releasing it. Hope they port more genre discs from SF for the folks who are Region B only ![]() |

I just went off what SS said on there facebook page. Someone asked on there and i replied to them saying it will be your standard off the shelf Universal transfer. Then SS replied and said it was a remaster.
Ah well the p/q still looks pretty good. |

Agree Marv, I'd put it in the 'pretty good' box too, much better than anything else we've had previously.
It's odd because the some of it looks quite filtered and some of it doesn't. Checked it directly against the German version and it looks a hair superior probably due to compression. The 2 hrs of extras are worth the purchase alone though, top stuff. |

There's only one reason they're using an old Universal master - there isn't a new one. And if Universal are farming that out to third parties, I doubt they're making a new one any time soon. This is never going to be a huge seller, and any limited market Universal might have had for a release from a new scan will have been dented badly by these worldwide releases. So, if it's this or nowt, I'll take this. Of course, never say never, but I can't see them scanning this again until 4K has well and truly taken off, and then it'll be way down near the back of the queue, as this has been for Blu-ray Disc. Indeed, this may never get another 2K scan. Steve W |

Good chance Universal will put up this supposed 4k remaster to buy/rent on ITunes USA, as it seems to be a trend with studios putting new masters up on digital for more DRM control and such, instead of/or before pressing UHD discs for old B-grade titles that would only lose money from the get go.
