I think it looks really good. I'm seeing it Tuesday. I hope I don't have the twist ruined for me before that. I've been told by someone who saw it that audiences will hate the twist so much.

Yeah... I'd be chocked if general audiences dug this movie.

I don't understand what it is about the horror genre that has the writers unable to write a decent conclusion 99% of the time.

I might actually go check this one out for Lauren Cohan and support The Walking Dead actress most likely.

She's better off staying in the show.

To escape an abusive relationship, Greta (Lauren Cohan) moves from America to rural England, finding a position as a caregiver for a wealthy couple's child. Only after she is at their large manor do they reveal the quote-unquote child, Brahms, is in fact a life-sized porcelain doll, a representation of the troubled son they lost in a fire 20 years ago. Greta, left alone when the husband and wife go on holiday, is instructed to adhere to a strict routine, including feeding, playing music for, and reading stories to her charge, whom she slowly begins to suspect may be more than just a pacifying toy for her elderly and grieving employers. This is a small, but creepy, entertaining, and well-told mystery with extremely handsome production design and a sympathetic lead performance by Cohan. William Brent Bell is a poorly regarded director due to the mediocre video-game slasher Stay Alive and the godawful found-footage film The Devil Inside, but in a surprise twist, he proves rather adept at emulating the this-old-house atmosphere and slowly burning suspense of a film such as The Changeling.

If it is half as creepy as The Changeling, then I will completely freak out. I saw that movie when I was about 9 or 10 years old, and I was terrified. I doubt that this film will scare an adult person like myself to that degree. But if it is creepy, then I am all for it. Those are the films that make me move.

Well, that was... that was something.

Better than The Forest (not a high bar, but still).

How are the RT Audience scores so high? It's got an incredible 73% right now which is mind blowing for a horror film.

The Forest has a 31%.. I was thinking of seeing this, but the lack of screening for critics and no Thursday night showings scared me... Are audiences really enjoying this that much though?? Maybe I made a mistake.. I used to be a sucker for ANY horror film, but Im just tired of wasting $6 for a film that isn't worth it. Much more picky these days I guess.

Accurate. The twist is awful.
So is the twist really
[Show spoiler]that Brahms didn't die in the fire and he actually lives in the walls of the home wearing a porcelain mask?

Hmm, the trailers pretty much gave that away. Just saw a tv spot and there were
[Show spoiler]a bunch of stuff coming out of the walls.

Wouldn't be surprised if audience eat up the twist, they loved that sort of thing in Orphan.

Very curious but
[Show spoiler]how exactly does the porcelain doll move to certain places then? Do they move it themselves so they can freak her out?

Despite being that ridiculous and silly. Orphan's twist came to us as a curve ball. I was not expecting that.

I actually liked the reveal in Orphan, it actually made the movie better.

I waited to watch it on home video because I was thinking it was stupid when it came to the actress they chose in relation to the character's age. It made things better that she just had a
[Show spoiler]disorder and was actually older
.

Kinda OT, but Cohan would've made a much more convincing Sarah Connor in TG than Emilia Clarke.
