I can understand selling the PS2 system IF the PS3 plays the PS1/2 games you enjoy. I am still catching up on some PS2 games I had not gotten around to playing. I even recently played two PS1 games on my PS3. Those two games are in my top 10 games of all time and will play them again at some point.. maybe on a PS4

A really good game is when you connect with it.. and often in this case you will play it again down the road when a new system is out.
I suppose some people have more time on their hands then others and personally I get bored of the same things maybe faster then some. I like the here and now.

I'm really sick of people chanting over and over "Good graphics don't make a game good". Of course that's true, but but for many (me included) bad graphics can make a decent game bad.

Don't get me wrong, I loved the NES in its day (and enjoyed the heck out of a friends Atari), but your expectations grow as the bar is raised. Or at least mine do.

Sure many games with fantastic graphics suck; many games suck, period. But sh!tty graphics don't mean that any more attention was paid to gameplay.

PS3 games are in HD. PS2 games are 640x480. i suppose if you have an analog tv upstairs somewhere with a PS2 hooked up to it, i can understand that. i personally can never look back after seeing 1920x1080 games on 61" of glorious high definition.

Case and Point: I played COD4 for three hours this morning, got some chores done, went to work and will probably play for 1-2 hours before going to bed tonight. That's COD4 - I wouldn't piss away my time today to play Castle Wolfenstein 3D even though I thought it was a great game back in 1988.

I would completely agree with this if Guitar Hero 1 and 2 worked with the Les Paul controller on the PS3...

I regret trading in my PS2...but I do not in any way regret buying the PS3

...does anyone else want to GIVE away their PS2? Hehe...

I have a 42" 1080p.. so? My favorite games from PS1 and PS2 the graphics don't bother me at all because they are great fun as is. Don't get me wrong.. I dont spend all my time on old games or anything. But if you are can't appreciate or understand people wanting to play older, great games just because their resolution is low.. then I guess that is just you.

So yes, PS3 games are better graphically/resolution wise of course. Why even bring that up? I am obviously talking about overall which includes more than just graphics.. And yes I crap myself over some of the new graphics.. I LOVE great graphics.. dont get me wrong.

Some people are coming off like there is NO reason to play older classics.. because they are graphically inferior. Some older games with dated graphics are much better than newer games with better graphics. Look at Castlevania SOTN compared to Castlevania for PS2. Better graphics helped that game none.

I don't replay old games often. If anything the option to do so is nice. Obviously a lot of people still play older games or Xbox and PS3 would not sell older games for download.

It is not even just about re-playing old games. There are some games on PS2 I never got around to playing. Games that are more fun than the remaining PS3 games I have not played.

While I may be alone in this there were not too many PS3 games I was really interested in so in between games I was able to play some good games I skipped because I got rid of my PS2 early on

Whatever you do with your old game consoles, please give consideration to what I do with them when I move on, I DONATE THEM (in working order), along with the games TO my LOCAL CHILDRENS HOSPITAL.

The sick kids really, really appreciate something that helps them forget their health problems for even a minute.

Plus, its a tax write off as a donation.

Yes, because wanting to extend one's enjoyment of barely year-old games like God of War II or Soul Calibur III on your new PS3 is EXACTLY like wanting to play a 20 year old game.

Wow. I just rolled my eyes so hard I think I ripped something in my skull.

I have a 40 PS3

Also not all PS3 games have better gameplay.

I still play Mario Kart on N64 every now and then when the friends come over.

i disagree with abandoning PS2 just because PS3 is out, that's a M$ attitude. although i anticipate the next great game for the newest console like everyone else, alot of my all-time favourites are on NES, SNES, PS1, and PS2. all the great games out for PS2 didn't instantly turn to sh** at 12:01AM Nov 11, 2006.

but i agree with the backward-compatibility whiners part, if someone wants to play PS2 games then keep the damn PS2! i kept mine, and i use it.

Everyone's going to have a different opinion on this one. I'm a game collector, so backward compatibility is a big issue for me. I have somewhere around 70 PS2 games, which isn't a ton, but it's still a good number. I'm not going to just hand off a large chunk of my collection just because a new console came through the door. Heck, I still have my Dreamcast hooked up through my TV's VGA connection, and it looks better than the PS2. I have a lot of games that are arcade conversions, and I like to collect and play them.

If you want to play with the newest shiniest thing, because you value it's newness, feel free.

Neither would I. That old game in particular has no real replay value. Mainly because everything about that game has been improved on. It has no real story..so it relies on gameplay and graphics. Some people may want to play it again for nostalgic reasons.. but that is probably it.

You have to realize there are many old(er) games that have elements that no other game has improved on or even tried to be like!! Look at old Sonic games on the Gensis.. they are among my favorite.. and I play them from time to time. There is simply no game ever made that is anything like Sonic..and the new ones mostly suck. If a new Sonic came out that played similar to the old ones (with some obvious improvements) I would be all over it..

So.. mentioning Wolfenstein maybe shows you dont really get what we are referring to. There are a lot of old games that simply nothing compares yet to date. Until something does I may get a hair up my arse to play it

There are tons of great games. I am a gamer so I will not toss a system just because something new comes along. I still have my Dreamcast (awesone system) NEO Geo, 3DO and coutnless other systems.
