First day purchase. I just love these cheezy movies from my childhood. The Seventies rocked cheeze and all. Miss these slow burn type of flicks.

Sssssss tells such a tragic tale. If there's any such thing as a feel good horror movie, this sure ain't it! It is definitely a heart breaking story.

There's also a bedroom scene where there's a fake drawn-in lampshade blocking another shot (or something like that, I'm going on memory), but there's also other subject matter that is definitely PG and would have been trimmed as well if this was simply a "tv-print". I think the old DVD was exactly what played in theaters, fake leaves and all.
I think the Japanese VHS had the nude footage.

Proof, please.

Trust me, I'd love to be proven wrong as Menzies is hot and nudity is always a plus. Just have never seen any actual footage or photos of that 'uncut' scene so I'm skeptical. I'm guessing that Universal was originally going for an R and decided at the last minute to go for a PG to double bill it with WEREWOLF and had to censor it at the last minute, thus the last-minute really hokey fake leaf blockage. But if there really is an uncensored version out there, which definitely had to exist at one point before the fake leaves were added, obviously that would be preferable, but that still doesn't mean it was shown that way in US theaters.

Yeah. It's always some foreign version that people "think" has the uncensored nude scene. They usually say the UK version. Now the Japanese version.

I've never seen a screen cap. I think we've reached a point in this story where we are justified in expecting an actual screen image. There are always plenty of people willing to say that they think it's in a foreign cut but those stories aren't holding water.

If you say so. I was just going by the fact that Shout has released at least 10 double features from MGM, and none from Universal.

I'll definitely pick this title up down the road during a sale. I've always wanted to see it

Its from a business standpoint , I guess they feel the Universal titles will sell better on their own, while the MGM titles like Reptilicus , Ghosthouse, etc wouldnt. Its just their philosophy

This movie predates 1986's The Fly in many ways.

Well, it actually predates 1986's The Fly in every way because it is 13 years older. It existed well before the Fly remake.

Ummm HELLZ yeah!!!

This is awesome, I have watched this so many times on Sci-Fi. I didn't know that it was from 73 though. Thought it was early 80's so there's a fun fact!

Great, that means the film isn't that dated

I still have the newspaper ad for the double bill

Ooooo that would be so great if they do Kingdom of the Spiders next. (Although they have shot that down before)

Truth. It's a solid body horror film.

No. Very different.

It may be hokey/cheesy, too, but there it is ultimately pretty sinister.
