Gonna pass if that's the final art. That's seriously the best they can do. Lazy.

The issue here is that all the other SteelBooks in this line are art from the opening credits and this one doesn't appear to be, right? I remember a lot of octopus imagery in the opening credits of this but I don't remember this image. If they're going to continue it, at least be consistent.

Careful folks, a second listing has shown up as the Spectre steelbook.

Spectre

The original listing shows the image as a steelbook, but the new listing shows the same image but also mentions it in the description.

That's because they are probably all CIA agents and fans of JB.

It depends how you look at it. Yes, the above 9 steelbooks from the "S.P.E.C.T.R.E."/"Blofeld" retconned series all have art from the actual main titles (main titles designers Maurice Binder, Daniel Kleinman, Robert Brownjohn & MK12).

But separately from this range of steelbooks, some individual exclusives were released for these Bond films. And they actually have the poster design as cover art (full theatrical as well as teaser posters):

"Casino Royale" (Media Markt Germany Exclusive, released in 2009)
Steelbook vs. poster:

"GoldenEye" (co-released with Amazon's 50th anniversary BluRay box in 2012)

"Skyfall" (released during first BluRay release wave of the film in 2013)

And then....

"SPECTRE" (release during first BluRay release wave of the film in 2016)
Steelbook vs. poster:

Dutch steelbook (1-disc):

French steelbook (2 discs; 1 BluRay, 1 DVD):

Note the different side strips. Apparently, the French have a habbit of turning the title of the film the other way around.

Yeah we know.. In the movie this logo transforms in an Octopus during the credits. And after all, its the logo of their organization. It's not what we could call a news

Duhhhh :-P. It's the very logo of crime syndicate S.P.E.C.T.R.E. (SPecial Executive for Counterintelligence, Terrorism, Revenge and Extortion).

Here is a nice bit of the S.P.E.C.T.R.E. logo design development :-):

"FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE" (1963):
[Show spoiler]

"THUNDERBALL" (1965):
[Show spoiler]

"DIAMONS ARE FOREVER" (1971):
[Show spoiler]

"SPECTRE" (2015):
The bullet hole from the poster and on the steelbook actually comes directly from this screenshot, when Bond tries to kill Blofeld. His 6 bullets turn into an octopus :-):
[Show spoiler]

And then off course, we saw the octopus logo in Marco Sciarra's ring:
[Show spoiler]

So whatever people think of the steelbook design, there's really some deeper meaningbehind it :-).

Why does Best Buy have such a garbage site? They won't let me cancel my normal Spectre pre order. IT COMES OUT IN A MONTH. LET ME CANCEL IT
