Maybe next week. This weekend I already decided on Lethal Weapon and Ace Vetura marathons.

James Cameron Confirms He’s Planning to ‘Go Ahead With’ a ‘Fantastic Voyage’ Remake ‘Very Soon’

Quote:
As for other pursuits, the filmmaker once again brought up his plans to produce a remake of the 1966 tour-through-the-human-body “Fantastic Voyage,” a project Cameron and his partner Jon Landau have toyed with for over a decade.

“We’ve been developing it for a number of years, and we plan to go ahead with it very soon,” Cameron said. “Raquel Welch is not available, but we think we can make a pretty good movie.”

Someone needs to remind Cameron that the inside of the human body isn't teal.

Speak for yourself. My heart is teal, my liver is periwinkle, and my kidneys are ultramarine.

Looking forward to one of the cast saying “I’m king of the body!”

And that he doesn’t need to pad the runtime so the movie is six hours long.

Considering how much science video we see on tv and in school since the original film was released, it’s somewhat difficult to see how they could make this interesting. Back then I would think the inside of the body was something unknown and amazing. Obviously they could do high tech special effects these days which would really be the only difference

Just thinking though, they could give the film a different ending and they don’t make it out, genius!

The colon adventure alone should be its own trilogy.

James Cameron is working on this now? Hopefully he'll have someone else direct or this is probably never going to happen since his life work is now focused on the remainder of the Avatar films 3, 4, 5.

The original was interesting.
Innerspace was kind of funny. Saw that in theaters as a kid, and have the DVD. Martin Short, Dennis Quaid, Meg Ryan.

That would've been cool but del Toro couldn't get any studio support for his larger budget.

Good point. Too many shelved projects now since The Hobbit...

He’s producing, not directing.

I think most of Hollywood missed that memo.

A great idea botched by the cheap, bland made for tv treatment of the original. Would love a David Cronenberg version of the material.

I always felt the unofficial remake was Inner Space.

Could be good!

This concept probably fits in well with Tron. Shrink a person down to microscopic size so they can enter a computer or the blood stream, which is fantasy science fiction I guess.

How would this ever be possible or practical in real life in 5000 years from now if the technology ever catches up to this concept?

By then, they'll just have miniature Nano-bots that are microscopic, enter the body with cameras and do whatever needs to be done on that tiny scale. No need for humans to undergo such shrinking trials.

I guess like that concept Honey I shrunk the Kids.
Or that TV series about the very tiny people shrunk down.
Or The Littles animated TV series.

They have bots like that (I believe) in the Neal Stephenson novel Seven Eves, which is supposedly being adapted into a film by Ron Howard.
