Pre-ordered @ Amazon. Impressive as this may be, it'll better come down to about a hundred. I just can't justify spending the kind a money they're asking for it right now!

(As to whether I can justify spending a hundred, let's just say I prefer to ignore that question... )

I do want to watch Baal in light of Bowie's passing, but don't want to buy a pricey boxset in order to watch it. (BBC Store doesn't have it either.) So hopefully it gets an individual release or is added to BFI Player; don't want to hunt down a low quality online version.

Hasn't dropped a penny since it was listed at Amazon. I like Zavvi's price but no way am I going to rely on them for a limited pre-order, despite their generally excellent discounts on BFI sets (while they're in stock, at least).

Still hoping it drops to £100, as it is priced at HMV and Base.

Yeah, I was expecting a bigger price drop. Hoping for the price match too and Amazon do sometimes drop the price again a few days before release date on some BFI titles. I'll be keeping my pre-order whatever the price is now though.

Is Penda's Fen included in the box or just as a standalone?

Included according to BFI shop....

'This long-overdue collection finally brings together all twenty-three of the surviving stand-alone BBC TV dramas that Alan Clarke directed between 1969 and 1989, including such neglected classics as To Encourage the Others, Horace, Penda’s Fen, Diane, Contact, Christine and Elephant, and also includes Scum and the first ever presentation of Clarke’s original Director’s Cut of The Firm, assembled from his personal answer print, discovered in 2015.'

VAT-less + S&H across the seas typically means... the standard VAT price. Unfortunately sometimes the lowest price on Amazon.uk is a merchant that subsequently DOESN'T deduct the VAT (yes, I am talking about you "bestmediagroup" ), and that can be frustrating, especially when you have to juggle math to figure out if paying the HIGHER listed price from Amazon direct will actually come out cheaper in the end.

Surprised that it is one of the top sellers on Amazon at the moment, despite its £100+ price..

Well that bestmediagroup/Eureka MOC! Wish they offer FlashFriday deals again .. all worked well with £4.99, £5.99 & £6.99 Managed to build a small Eureka MOC BD library with those fantastic deals in 2015

Unless I'm being blind in the above info, does anyone know if both versions of Scum will be included in this set. If not, which version is most likely do you think?

This is a collection of Alan Clarke's television work for the BBC. Therefore, this set includes only the 1977 TV version. The 1979 feature film version is available separately.

Doh, of course. For some reason I had it in my head the theatrical one was an option. Thanks for the clarification.

There is a film I saw once sometime in the 80's that I always thought was a (perhaps unofficial) sequel to The Firm. Its where a firm follow England to the world cup and the only part I can remember is when a few of them are in a police station or jail and they are lined up by the police about to have the hose turned on them as a kind of retribution and they all start whistling the national anthem before the water shoots out at them. Does this ring a bell for anyone or does anyone know if its on this release, or if it isn't an Alan Clarke film then does anyone know the name of it. Any help is much appreciated, thanks
