Samsung really needs to be ashamed of themselves. If the movies they named off works in EVERY OTHER PLAYER THEY'RE PUT IN how can they say that the studios won't give them the movies to test out? Sounds like a bunch of BS to me. I say to everyone who has a samsung player and has had problems with it get rid of that crap and get a Sony, a Panasonic, a Pioneer or hell even the Daewoo.

I own both LFoDH and POC-AWE, and they both play fine on my BP-P1400.

I am running version 1.2 Firmware.

If the email is true, it must have been a clueless customer service rep who was referring to the original firmware and was unaware that updates had already been issued.

me either. I deliberately run out and buy all the "problem titles" just to give me confidence that the palyer works; and it keeps playing them just fine. Maybe it is a conspiracy to get me to buy more Blu-ray discs !

Default get the new panny

I had a 1200 had problems from the very beggining. With DVDs picture would freeze and audio would keep going.Ran the last update and had lipsync problems with blu ray movies. When using dvd noise option would just make the picture look worse. Had issues trying to run the second disk of alexander. The the Pirates crap. What a cop out everyone but poor Samsung knew what was going on. Samsung is the joke of the blu ray world and has given them a big black eye. Something has to be done if we as blu ray backer want to win this HD war. Companies like Samsung are not helping the cause. Everyone should think twice before bying a Samsung blu ray player. Got a new panasonic and have been totally satisfied with it. The pq is wonderful as well as the aq. No issues playing any movie I have. This includes dvds. As well I purchased it 9 days ago and it already had the updated firmware. Now this is customer service you will never get from Samsung who continues to say be patient it not are fault. We may have a update in a week or so. these problems have be going on for months with Samsung. Al I have to say is SAMSUNG SUCKS.

OOh, I did exactly that! I returned the Samsung within a week of talking to Samsung's TIER 2 support staff on the phone and exchanged it for the Panny BD30 (which I've had NO problems with so far). I agree, the problems with the SAMSUNG just aren't worth your time.

that email looks a bit outlandish and fishy to me. superbad plays on my sammy 1200 flawlessly, along with the rat and mr and mrs smith. DH1-4 and POTC3 are the only ones that dont. im still having lip sync though on 24fps

I have watched potc3, live free or die hard, and superbad on my 1400 without a glitch. I have not had even one movie freeze up. No problems at all, movie wise. I do have to toggle between small and large front speakers in speaker setup for it to recognize the lfe channel before playing a CD, but it will recognize the lfe channel with movies once I turn the volume up a little on the high side then turn back down. Seems as though these people with all the issues are not properly installing firmware updates.

Although, I do agree Samsung has the least intelligent technical support in the universe!

I havent purchased any of the movies yet, since there is no firmware update to fix the problems everyone has talked about. My problem is that I purchased this machine over the summer. So I doubt I could return it now. Anyone have this type of situation? If so, how did it work out for you?

Don't know about the 1200 and 1400 and their problems, but I do know that my BDP1000 has been a pretty solid player. It does have a few little quirks, but considering it's the grand daddy of Blu ray players, I can live with it. And I have no problems with Potters, Pirates, Die Hards or Superbad. Latest firmware (1.3) and all is well. The post just delivered Simpsons and I haven't tried it yet. I'll post back any issues with it (if there are any).

Update: Simpsons loads fine and plays without issue. Hopefully 1200 and 1400 owners will have good luck with this title.

I tired contacting Samsung and Best Buy where I bought mine from. Best Buy gave me a big up yours, as I didn't buy a $90 replacement plan. Meanwhile at target for $29 I got a 3 year replacement plan that lets me bring in my defective PS3 with no questions asked. Samsung assured me that if the firmware update they were going to upload didn't work they would take my player and fix it. And being they aren't uploading a new Firmware Program anytime soon it seems, they gave me a big up yours too. So I refuse to shop at Best Buy and will never own another Samsuck product.

Im on with tech support right now and this jackass cant answer my questions without reading from a script. Now i'm being transferred to level 2 support.

so i just got off the line with level 2. you can tell she's tired of talking about this. From what she told me, they should be releasing a new firmware this week. I asked her why they are so slow and all the other manufacturers get it out faster, she didnt know, but said everyone gets the specs at the same time, and its only a problem with Fox movies. She said to either return the item, if the store will let me or wait on a firmware update.

I alson have a Samsung 1000 with 1.3 and Superbad and all Die Hards and Rat play fine . When talking to Samsung you need to ask for a product speclist and be forceful with them . They now work great with me .

Yep, same thing with me. Not much I can do except sell this player on ebay, try to recoup some of my $599.99, yes thats right, and buy a Panasonic.

i tried going to BB at lunch to see if they would let me return and exchange for something else...like a PS3...but since it was out of the 30 day money back guarantee, they wouldnt let me. They said basically its up to the manufacturer now to support the product, which is true....it never hurts to ask.

so here's to hoping that Samsung will get off their asses and get this firmware out this week!

No, that's not it. I did indeed install the firmware properly and it took. The player STILL wouldn't play those movies. It really amazes me that some people with the same model claim not to have a problem with these movies after installing the latest update... yet others STILL have the same problem even after successfully installing the latest firmware. Maybe Samsung had a couple bad batches of players and some of us got stuck with those pieces of crap while others got theirs from a good batch. Anyway, the problem is over for me, I exchanged it for a Panasonic weeks ago.

Or maybe they've finally had it with all the calls about non-playback and will finally get their technicians on it.
LFODH played fine on my friends 1400 with FW v1.2.

I had the Sony BDP-300 and that thing was slow and sluggish to remote commands. It may play movies but that thing was slow as DOS loading off a floppy.

The BD30 plays all CURRENT discs but it's a new player. I would expect it to play all CURRENT releases. Give it a few months and lets see if this player holds up to new releases WITHOUT issues.

Also, the PQ on the BD30 is not as good as the 1200. The 1200 beats it hands down for SD DVD upconverting.
Blu-ray PQ is slightly better as well on the 1200. Not much but noticable.

BD30 - faster loading and plays all CURRENT releases. Better than average PQ for Blu-ray and average PQ for SD DVD upconverting.

1200 - average load time(slow for Fox/Disney titles) and plays all releases except those few already mentioned requiring a FW update. Exceptional PQ for Blu-ray and upconverting SD DVD.

BDP-300 - slow loading. Sluggish remote response. Average Blu-ray & SD DVD upconverting PQ.

*And yes, I've owned all 3 players.
