You guys seriously thought The Departed was good? After growing up with movies like Goodfellas, Reservoir Dogs, Casino and Donnie Brasco amongst others, The Departed looked like a wanna be gansta movie with a cheesy predictable plot...

I guess younger people like it, especially if they havent seen the older school ones.

Latest Blu Rays I'm enjoying:

Blade Runner
Alexander Revisited
Kingdom Of Heaven
Any Terminator Movie
Apocalypto
Fantastic Four
Superman
300
Troy

the only way I see that movie (the departed) being remotely predictable is if you have seen infernal affairs, which I haven't. can you honestly say you saw the ending coming? or what happens when a certain character walk out the elevator near the end? if so, you must have the gift or something. or just a hater.

I'm a huge Matt Damon/Alec Baldwin/Mark Wahlberg/Jack Nicholson fan, but not so much of a DiCaprio fan, he was great in the Aviator though.

My brother kept telling me during the movie, how did you know this and that would happen, I kept telling him it was so predicatble lol. Maybe I've seen too many movies, I dont know, I just didnt like The Departed, I thought it was cheesy. The ending seemed like a half a s $ attempt to make the movie feel real gangster like to me.

Dawn of the Dead... great movie and social commentary about consumerism.

A timeless classic. Everytime I go to the mall it's all I think about... ppl wondering around like Zombies... except they don't bite me and eat my limbs.

Crash has to be one of the truly fantastic storylines movies on Blu-ray, very sad though.

It's hard to beat Crank! (Kidding, though it is a fun movie to watch)

My two faves are "The Lives of Others" and "The Departed." I've only watched about 15 of my 40+ discs, but those are the two best so far.

Tie between the Departed and Good Fellas. Hopefully this war will be over soon and I can add The Godfather for a 3-way tie.

I'm 24, I've seen them all. I am a mafia buff. Even though the Departed was a simple movie and was somewhat lacking and had some holes, I still enjoyed it a lot.

Thanks for the great laugh. Being a hater doesn't make you look like a film connoisseur. The departed wasn't predictable by any means. If you did call a scene it was a shot in the dark. For someone who grew up with gangster movies, you should pay hommage to the director of some of the best. I thought he did a great job. Enjoy Fantastic 4 though, hopefully that won't be cheesy.

I love all of the gangster movies, and thought Departed was excellent, with solid acting all around. The story was well done, not entirely predictable (as I had not seen it's original), and Marc Wahlberg was a riot in that movie. Especially the exchanges between him and Alec Baldwin, classic stuff.

Im 23 and I've seen all those movies. And while I do love Donnie Brasco, I thought resevoir dogs was a pretty sorry attempt for a 'gangster' movie. The other two were ok, but I really think that Donnie Brasco and the Departed were incredible. And no, you can't predict the Departed, that was part of the allure to the movie!

I agree with you and I'm 28. As far as gangster movies go tho, none will likely ever beat the Godfather trilogy.
