That's true, I wasn't expecting a 3D trailer yet for Rogue One.
Speaking of 3D trailers, I hope they include the 3D trailers for Star Wars VII with the Force Awakens blu ray 3D later this year. I saw the 2D version doesn't have any trailers.

There is the shot where the giant ATAT aims towards the ground but because they were way off on their target, the laser unfortunately missed way wide left and right, taking away what could've been an awesome 3D pop out.

For such a big movie, I wish they pushed the 3D more.
We're still waiting for word on when VII 3D blu ray will arrive later in 2016, but probably at the Star Wars Celebration July 15th.

It may have been too wide, but it still made me jump out of me seat.

One thing the ATAT pilot could do is aim with the left or right side laser and that would hit the target. But I have to remember, these are the Empire trained soldiers who can't hit the side of a barn most of the time.

I can't wait for this! Feels really new and fresh! The dialogue does sound a little clunky, but then again when has there not been clunky dialogue in a Star Wars film lol

Yeah, that's my main worry. Everyone says what a good actress she is, but ... she's really wooden in the previews.

As we all have learned this summer, though: You can't tell a movie by how good -- or how bad -- the trailer is.

It's Disney, man. They released Zootopia 3D after a huge drought in the States, to much cheering, and then -- no 3D for Jungle Book, the studio's biggest release of the year (next to Star Wars, I mean).

I don't pretend to a) understand Disney or b) predict what it will do. I think Episode VII's coming out was a possibility, as it wasn't available in any other region in 3D; but ... Yeah, Disney.

Who knows what it'll do?

EDIT: My hope? The studio will release it right away. But if it wants to build hype for that stupid Han Solo movie, LucasFilm will hold it like they did EpVII. We're on the "one Star Wars movie per year" cycle now. LucasFilm will probably never do anything else. (Personally, I think it's kind of sad, as there's no way to keep the quality up with that kind of output pressure, but ... we'll see.)

Learn what? What's to learn? Force Awakens 3D is currently the best selling blu ray pre order on amazon UK. You can't act as if this tactic has backfired for Disney in any way at all.

Yeah, really. I hope they don't repeat the same nonsense of having to wait almost a whole year for the 3D version..... Later is still better than never though.

The same team that converted VII to 3D, Stereo D, is working on Rogue One and VIII, so here's hoping they each have the same quality. The 3D in the trailer for Rogue One was okay, low medium 3D layers most of the way each time I saw it, so I hope they're saving the best 3D for the movie.

Looking forward to this one after the most recent trailer. Before that, it looked good, but after seeing Vader and the stakes rising for the heroes, along with the X Wing, Tie Fighters and outer space conflict, Rogue One could be something great. I hope. Here's hoping the 3D in the final movie is as good as in Force Awakens, though the Rogue One trailer's mild to medium layered 3D has me concerned. It's from the same team as Force Awakens, Stereo D, so I was surprised the 3D in the trailer seemed pretty mild and unexciting so far. I hope I'm wrong and it's great in the main film, since the trailer could've been a quick side project while they focused on the main 3D conversion.

Over the past several months my local Cinemark has gone from all showings of 3D movies on their XD screen actually being in 3D to splitting the showtimes between 2D and 3D. It's usually been okay but for this movie they're clearly pushing the 2D showtimes. It's only playing in XD 3D twice a day at unreasonable times - 9:45 AM or 10:45 PM.

Saw it on IMAX, the conversion is OK. There's some weird stuff where they push too much foreground, which bothered me in a few shots as they are short shots, but it's fine.
