I believe you can only get it through a digital code that comes with the Extended Edition Blu-ray. That is how I got mine, purchased from the Trading Forum.

Just noticed that Ghostbusters contains a commentary and alternate TV version. I guess that is more of a kids version?

Update: sorry, it's just the out takes, thought is was alternative version

They pulled them off a few months ago. I did manage to buy Alien during the Fox movie of the day about a year ago. Not sure why Fox never sold it with both cuts and iTunes extras? I prefer the original cut myself.

Are you saying iTunes dropped the theatrical versions ?

Either way it makes zero sense
Ideally we should have the oppurtunity to buy either one or both
But at the very least,
the theatrical versions should be the standard purchase option

And on a side note ,
Shouldn't Alien's (1979) director's cut be labeled Special Edition
and Aliens' (1986) special edition be renamed the Director's Cut ?
technically speaking

I know they have been named this way for awhile but it's always bugged me a bit

I can confirm this. My US iTunes copies have the director cuts for 2 and 6 in the extras also.

Yeah, it's the studio that controls it... They set 'sales end dates' on the movies, maybe they set a date arbitrarily that has passed and haven't noticed it yet... Can't imagine they wouldn't want the sale if someone wanted to buy it...

They should really only sell one version of a movie that comes with both cuts on it. It's too confusing with so many versions running around, and even then they only seem to ever discount the Director's Cut- even if it's included with the Theatrical version on iTunes!
