Yeah, even though it was a shot in 3D film, there are still shots which need to be converted and other finishing costs to do a 3D release, and we haven't seen studios willing to pay for that with extended cut home releases other than The Hobbit (and there I think it very much came from Peter Jackson's requests).

Anyone, other than Days of Future Past, I've avoided being sucked into double dipping with extended cuts recently (even when they do interest me like with The Martian and The Hobbit films), so will just stick with my 3D theatrical disc.

And even then, being shot in native doesn't mean it's instantly ready to rumble. I read something from a colourist on Ridley Scott's Exodus which said that pretty much every shot was reconverged in post anyway for optimal alignment.

Wow. I haven't even got my UHD BD player yet, and I'm already considering double dipping on titles? This is madness.

Still, at least Fox will have another chance to address the pixelation at the start of the theatrical release.

Fox, your last chance to add Atmos/DTSX on this release
Yes, the Martian is released in DTS:X in China, so maybe there're chances the UHDBD will have DTS:X this time.

Fox should instead focus on Alien and Prometheus in UHD instead of an extended edition for movie that's only been out for less than a year.

Ok, what I need to know is; will this be a native 4K UHD?
As the 4K UHD that is available now is a 5K master downscaled to 2K and then upscaled to 4K UHD.

It'll make a huge difference!

I heard they went back to the raw 5K elements for the current UHD Blu and only the VFX were 2K Upscales.

Theatrical and extended version included- that's what I like to see! Let's hope they do the same with the UHD release.
