Default Napoleon Dynamite

I couldn't get into it at all the first time I watched it, but I love it now.

I get it. It's the only one that was critically liked, and most bash all the sequels. I just loved how over the top the third one was in it's epicness. But I definitely understand that the first is probably the better film, but I don't care.

That Davy Jones though!

He is still one of the coolest looking villains in cinema.

I saw The Toxic Avenger when I was like 10/11 and was shocked, appalled, and stupefied, especially when the kid is run over. I had no real understanding or comprehension of humor that dark before. I love it now, but back then I absolutely hated it. It's the only movie I can think of where over time my opinion has taken a complete 180.

certain films grow on you and they just don't have the wow effect the first time. your list is a great example of those types of films...

First time I watched it I was like , I kind of bought into the whole Michael Myers isn't in it routine. I watched again later with an open mind and I love this movie. It is a good atmospheric little thriller.

I disliked the Bourne series with a passion but after a few watches they became very good movies too me.....I still blame the series for the horrible state of action in a lot of Hollywood films and americans' low tolerance for action scenes longer than 3 min. Even though I love the original trilogy, eff those movies. lol.

I need to rewatch them, I remember them having great action and fights that make sense with Jason aiming to kill his targets are quickly as possible, which assassins would be trained to do.

Not to mention, they used a lot of things that normally wouldn't be used like books, towels, and pens. Its action was a lot more creative then the majority of action movies.

I just didn't get it the first time.

It's so different than the Dollars trilogy.

...but everything changed on the second viewing.

Also, Hobbit: Unexpected Journey was a movie I really didn't like when I first saw (more like slept through) it, but I enjoy it quite a bit now, even the Extended Edition. It's my least favorite of the trilogy but I've come to like it; it's probably easier to enjoy now as part of the whole story, rather than on its own.

Also this one.

If you'd have told me after the first viewing that the Criterion OOP would become one of my most prized possessions one day, I'd have punched you in the face.

I honestly can't think of a single title I initially hated that I now love. I tried hard to think of something, but I can't. Movies I hated on the first viewing, I still hated on a second and third attempt.

The Godfather was the big one for me-- the first time I finally sat down and watched it (maybe 12-15 years ago now) I was bored out of my mind. The second time I watched it a few years later I loved it and eagerly watched The Godfather Part II. Now I love both of those films a lot (I've only seen Part III once and don't have a solid opinion on it, but my impression was that it was... okay).

The other one I can think of is Shaun of the Dead-- I'm not sure why this one put me off the first time I saw it. Maybe I was expecting it to be more pure goofy comedy and the serious moments kind of threw me off. The second time I watched it I "got it" and enjoyed it a lot more.

Jean-Luc Godard makes good films.
Have you seen Breathless?

The Lord of the Rings trilogy is the best example. The first film bored me to death when I watched it as a gift. Years later I watched part III and rewatched the trilogy and became a fan.

The Great escape, once upon a time in the West. These films simply required a second viewing to better understand the plot and became favorites.
