I never knew FXX aired a Wheel of Time pilot with Billy Zane back in 2015.

Hopefully they are willing to put a reasonable budget behind it and do it right. I'm not aware of anything Amazon has tried that is near in scope. Aside from The Man in the High Castle everything I have seen from them are on the lower cost side (not counting co-produced show like Britannia).

MTV was the network the picked up the series and ran the first season, I didn't make it past episode 4 or 5...

I remember the day that was announced, reading about the show being picked up by MTV and Terry Brooks personally assuring fans via his website that MTV was the best choice because they were going to be mostly hands off.

Of course, everyone who read the news immediately felt the dread of knowing what was going to happen. Clearly the suits stepped in and felt the need to “modernize” Shannara in an attempt to appeal to a wider audience. Little did they know that the problem with that mindset is the audience they were shooting for was young, probably never heard of these books and are too busy on their mobile devices.
Instead of being faithful to the series for the, ya know, older crowd that actually read these books decades ago. As for Brooks, I’m sure once the checks came in he would say whatever the suits wanted.
I’m happy that we got two seasons, as it did bring back fond memories of some great books, but that course of thinking was never going to work.
Hopefully Amazon does is much more faithful to this massive series of books, but I’m not holding my breath.
