Great film,I would go as far as to put in currently in the top ten movies of the decade so far.As someone else pointed out really felt like a mix of The Town and No Country for Old Men two movies that I also loved.Great acting by all and really dug the dialog and the feeling of friendship and brotherhood between Pine & Foster and Bridges and his partner. Some really funny moments as well that really work to my surprise in such a serious movie.
bty the racist joke Bridge's gives to his partner threw out the film where pretty funny and honestly didn't feel like being really racist but more of how you tag jabs and make fun of the people close to you.A scene towards the end really shows Bridge's true feelings for his partner and shows that he isn't a racist at all. |

Just finished seeing this. Absolutely loved it! Can't find a single flaw. By far the best move I've seen this year. I can easily see why it is currently rated at 99% on Rotten Tomatoes. Great script with some very funny zingers in such a seriously toned film. Yes, Bridges is playing basically the same gruff character he played in True Grit, etc. but it worked for me. The relationships between the two brothers on one side and the two rangers on the other side played well against each other. Agree with another poster's take that this film plays like a Texas version of The Town with the No Country for Old Men feel. When this hits Blu, day one purchase without a doubt.

Just saw it today and can't stop thinking about it. I'm kinda shocked at the early takes on this in this thread. I loved everything about it. It's No Country For Old Men with a sense of humor and what the script was doing with the 'racist' jibes was entirely the point. Jeff Bridges delivers a performance that easily sits on the same shelf as his work with the Coens and I'm desperately sorry it didn't work for some folks. In my world, this is a sign of the times in the same way Bonnie and Clyde or Thelma and Louise was and ideally, everyone would go see it and it would set off a little revolution in style.
If I sound like I'm celebrating it too much, at the very least, it deserves your attention and your 12 bucks. I'd like more movies with this kind of spirit, please. |

It is supposed to go wide next week. Living in Los Angeles, we get some films opening early and this was one of them. Can't understand some early posts that trashed this film but completely accept everyone's right to their individual likes/dislikes. I loved it and would recommend it without a doubt.

It apparently did really well for the screens it was on. Couldn't be happier. Not big on hyperbole, but I've sat with it for two days and am almost ready to call it my favorite movie of the last couple of years. I'm really hoping it connects with people on its wide release.

Rather than say he was wrong, I would respond by saying that he just didn't like it; and judging from the response we are seeing from others who have seen it, including myself, he will most likely be in the minority. When I saw it on Saturday, the theatre was packed and there was a pretty significant applause when the end credits came up.
