I just said it was region B locked because Zavvi's product details say so, by perhaps they are wrong?

No 4K or 3D. Hmmmm. Waiting for further announcements. Too early I think.

3D version in Australia is on pre-order at 4K prices! ($45).

Still no 4K from Disney, but they are sticking with support for 3D BD format (hence the Star Wars Ep7 3D announcement).

Why won't Disney go UHD BD?

I don't think any from Disney released theatrically for first time after 2010 has been region locked (note theatrical release date, not BD date). Some older items were Locked, most of the 3D items (excluding Ratatouille) are region free including a few where the 2D remains locked (Up 3D, Bolt 3D, Nightmare Before Xmas 3D are region Free). Up (2009), Princess and the Frog (2009), Sorcerer's Apprentice (2010) I think is the most recent theatrical release I can find that had a locked 2D Bluray

I'm not sure if that applies to all of the items released outside of Disney/Pixar umbrella. I guess I would be shocked if Alice, BFG, Dory, Marvel etc aren't all region free
With The Jungle Book now confirmed region-free, I'm 99% certain Alice, Dory, etc. will be also. However, The BFG was released in the UK by EOne, not Disney; like Need for Speed, I suspect it will have a non-Disney, Region B-locked UK release (including 3D).

Default Region locked Alice 3d

For those bummed about the region lock on Alice and other titles too, keep in mind you can goto JVBDigital and get region free kits for just about any player out there. I put one of these kits on my Oppo 93 and it works great! When I started to see the trend of 3D releases showing up in other countries outside the US I looked into this option and now it has opened up a whole new avenue for 3D for me. The Oppo player had two different options for the region free kit too, one internal and one external, I opted for the external version. Anyway sorry if this is redundant info but thought I'd throw it out there anyway.

Maybe I misinterpreted your previous post

Is there anything to suggest the ongoing assumption that this disc will be region free is incorrect?
Cool I was just going by Amazon UK, I just preordered it and it showed region B, perhaps it's region free though. Having that kit though makes it a non-issue if it is or isn't. I just have to make sure there's english on the movies from overseas when I get them lol. And i was just letting people know there are upgrades for their players to make them region-free, some might not know this.

Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment has confirmed an earlier report by Stitch Kingdom that Alice Through the Looking Glass will be available to own on Blu-ray, Digital HD and Disney Movies Anywhere on October 18, 2016 (now available for pre-order).

Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland forever changed the landscape of children’s literature; Disney’s animated Alice in Wonderland embraced this fantasy world filled with peculiar characters; and Tim Burton directed a visually-stunning, live-action film that mesmerized audiences worldwide. On Oct. 18, 2016, the enchanting and beloved franchise that has captivated generations of adventurers continues when Disney’s Alice Through the Looking Glass arrives home on Digital HD, Blu-ray, Disney Movies Anywhere, DVD and On-Demand.

In Alice Through the Looking Glass, the all-star cast from the 2010 blockbuster is back with Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter who’s desperately searching for his family; Anne Hathaway as Mirana, the kind, mild-mannered White Queen; Helena Bonham Carter as Iracebeth, the short-tempered, big-headed Red Queen; and Mia Wasikowska as Alice, the heroine at the heart of the story. Sacha Baron Cohen joins the ensemble as Time, a magical being that is part human, part clock, and the late Alan Rickman—to whom the film is dedicated—is the voice of Absolem, the blue Monarch butterfly who metamorphosed from the blue caterpillar “Alice in Wonderland.”

Fascinating, in-depth bonus features invite in-home audiences to further explore the whimsical world of Underland. Three-time Oscar®-winning costume designer Colleen Atwood reveals the creative process behind the film’s ornate costuming; P!nk provides on-set access during production of her “Just Like Fire” music video; Sacha Baron Cohen showcases his quirky new character, Time; and Director James Bobin offers insightful audio commentary and introduces five, never-before-seen deleted scenes.

BONUS FEATURES (DIGITAL HD/SD & BLU-RAY):
•A Stitch in Time: Costuming Wonderland (4:11) – Three-time Oscar®-winning costume designer Colleen Atwood explains how costuming helps shape the curious characters of Underland and reveals hidden Easter Eggs within the cast’s ornate outfits.
•Music Video: ‘Just Like Fire by P!nk (3:47) – ‘Watch this madness, colorful charade’ in P!nk’s music video for ‘Just Like Fire,’ the hit song featured in Alice Through the Looking Glass that powered to the top 10 on Billboard’s Hot 100.
•Behind the Music Video (2:51) – Go on set with P!nk for production of her ‘Just Like Fire’ music video, featuring fantastical imagery, aerial stunts, Underland character cameos, and guest appearances by P!nk’s family.
•Behind The Looking Glass (8:15) – Jump back and forth through time during this in-depth look into the making of Alice Through the Looking Glass, hosted by director James Bobin.
•Time On… (1:40) – Delight in this discussion with the unpredictable and witty Sacha Baron Cohen who plays Time, the keeper of the Chronosphere, a metallic sphere that powers all time.
•Alice Goes Through the Looking Glass: A Scene Peeler (2:19) – View a side-by-side comparison of raw production footage and final scenes, as Alice enters Underland through a magical looking glass.
•Alice Goes Through Time’s Castle: A Scene Peeler (1:26) – View raw production footage alongside final scenes, as Alice enters Time’s castle of eternity.
•Characters of Underland (4:32) – Get to know the quirky and colorful supporting characters in Underland, such as the tubby twins known as the Tweedles (Matt Lucas) and Absolem (Alan Rickman), the blue caterpillar turned blue Monarch butterfly.
•Filmmaker Audio Commentary by James Bobin – Director James Bobin delivers scene-by-scene insight into the creation of Alice Through the Looking Glass.
•Deleted Scenes with Director Commentary – Bobin introduces five never-before-seen scenes that didn’t make the final cut of Disney’s spectacular adventure: Alice’s Bedroom and Rabbit Hole (1:32), Alice Tackles Hamish (2:19), Time Comforts Racie in the Castle (1:25), Racie in the Castle (2:45), Time Can’t Follow Alice (:18)

Who knows, unlike Jungle Book, Alice 2 did very poorly at the box office and Disney may not feel there is enough interest to bother with the 3D release. Disney is the worst studio for home 3D output, unless it's Marvel they don't seem to bother or re-release the 3D version several months later.

Want this but $22.99 is rediculous. If it had 3D it'd be a good price. This should be $20 or less. Think this will drop? I'd love it to be a BF deal! How much for the U.K. 3D combo?

Since there's no U.S. 3D and they want $22.99 for the 2D BD, I decided to preorder it on Vudu for $19.99 with $3 credit upon release.

I got Jungle Book 2016 on Amazon Instant Video with an Amazon gift card from work, and that was solid.

Finding Dory and the re-release of The Force Awakens on 3D BD will be mine, though.

With one of the DMR $5 off Coupons (if you're lucky enough to be able to print those) it could be a steal -- assuming you aren't one of the folks who hate the movie so bad they wouldn't own it for free.
Now that you say that, I'll wait 'til BF. It'll probably be $10 or something.
