My copy is scheduled to ship tomorrow from Amazon. Don't know where that October 4th date came from but this looks like it's only delayed a couple of days.

blind bought this from a local B&M store.. what a gem! I treasure this thing haha, displays next to my Grindhouse release of Pieces. My only problem is I love both the new cover and the reversible art. Arrow needs to stop being so cheap and do more slipcovers!

It says 'brand new 2k restoration from the negative' on the packaging

Something I actually loved about this movie (besides the awesome slug-death scenes) - this thing is filled with so many huge explosions haha.. It's like ahead of it's time with so many well-done explosions and fire effects. I thought that was really cool. Who woulda thought mutated slugs could cause so many things to blow up.. or that you would have to blow up a whole town just to combat them haha.

Last night, I watched my Arrow Blu-ray of Slugs. I am now going through all of the extras.

Since most healthy humans can outrun a slug, one would not think that these animals would be feasible subjects for a horror film. These particular slugs, however, are mutated due to toxic waste, and they are quite carnivorous as a result. They seem to appear en masse quite abruptly, and they consume human flesh quite speedily, so the end result is one incredibly gory and glorious film that brings back fun memories from my high school days, when I used to rent this by way of the VHS tapes after noticing the source novel by Shaun Hutson on grocery store shelves. Horror films during the 1980s were so much fun, and this is one such B-movie example that still stands the test of time, beautiful women, massive explosions, pre-CGI-era makeup effects, effective music, and all. The acting is...not the best...but that's part of the charm of this Spanish production with many international actors. The slugpocalypse during the final half hour of the movie, when the creatures finally manifest themselves in full, is quite epic. I also love one pivotal scene where a person who has been contaminated on the inside by the slugs begins to bleed and explode while he is dining in an expensive restaurant with snobby rich people. The gleefully heavy-handed music score is icing on the cake.

My viewing of this movie is quite timely. I've spent the past three days attending a stream identification class for work, and, along with the other students, I've been hiking through wooded areas to analyze stream beds for soils, plant types, and animal habitation. This morning, as we were checking out a tray water sample for insects, amphibians, and such, I asked one of the other students, "Have you ever seen that 1980s movie, Slugs?" He excitedly replied that he had, and that he loved old creature flicks. Both of us had always assumed that we were the only people in the world who like this movie, so a fun conversation ensued.

This Blu-ray transfer of Slugs is a thing of beauty, in terms of picture quality and audio quality. I never imagined that this long-lost 1980s VHS classic would receive such fine treatment.

The interviews are mostly in Italian, but I nonetheless loved watching them, because the filmmakers are quite enjoying their trip down memory lane. The two commentaries are both engaging, amusing, and informative. As before with Arrow discs, the commentary from Chris Alexander of Fangoria magazine is a well-researched fan piece.

Arrow's release is incredible. The transfer is excellent and the extras are quite great. I haven't check out the commentaries yet but look forward to it. I discovered that it was filmed about an hour from where I grew up.

After my first viewing Slugs is one of my new favorites. I'm surprised more people aren't talking about it on here. Perfect 80s horror

I can't wait to see what Arrow does with the rest of the Lakeshore catalog. I imagine HOUSE will be one of their top-selling titles.

That would be nice, haven't seen that one since the early 90's. A Children of the Corn boxset would be sweet as well

Blind bought this. I had never watched or even heard of this before, and I consider myself a huge horror fan!
Anyway, this movie was pretty bad. Unintentionally funny, mediocre acting, horrible lines and as someone mentioned above, cheesy music to go with this cheesiest of movies. BUT, I loved every minute of it! I was never bore or disinterested. Glad I bought this. Cool gory effects were probably the highlight. Will definitely watch this every so often and no regrets buying it!

Mike Brady?

P.S. Hope I enjoy Contamination as much as I did Slugs.

Picked this one up from Amazon about a month ago. It was a bit expensive but I don't have any regrets. The cover art is absolutely awesome.

The video and audio quality are solid. Not fantastic but above average for a smaller title.

Loved the audio commentaries on this one. The first one with author Shaun Hutson is really, really informative and his enthusiasm makes for a great listen. His candor is refreshing and his indifference in regards to the "quality" of the finished product is hilarious. I don't want to spoil all of the fun for everyone, but my favorite part is where he mentions how most people think there is deeper meaning to the film, but in reality, and in his words - "There is no deeper meaning. It's simply a movie about slugs that eat people".

The second commentary was quality as well...from what I watched of it. I fell asleep halfway through because I listened to both of them back to back after watching the movie itself.

Overall, I highly recommend.

Could somebody possibly post an image of the reverse cover art? I can't find it anywhere online.

God I love this film. The two leads have wonderful chemistry and I like how they're professionals just trying to do their jobs. You really care about them and that ending always leaves me teary-eyed
