My parents are vacationing in Iceland, and they sent me this picture of a stop they made on their drive around the island:

Knew I recognized it from somewhere and then I remembered this:

I live in NYC, so theres so much to claim.

But oneof the direct filming experiences i had a a kid was when they filmed a scene from Glora from a building that used to be a hotel that the Yankees stayed in. I was there to see them film Gloriia leave w the kid, and one of my buddies made it into the shot.

That's awesome! I would love to go, my parents are having the time of their lives. If I had known they would be there I would have made them reenact the scene for a picture. Oh well

We went in winter so it was even more spectacular and a bit freakier to walk around as it was so slippery

Living in, and working in Boston, I've been to many of the places you see in many of the movies filmed here in Boston. Most of the movies have been gangster type movies.

Black Mass
The Town
The Departed
Gone Baby Gone
The Equalizer

I lived in South Boston for a few years, and most of the movies I mentioned were filmed at least partly in South Boston. I also worked construction for 20 years in and around downtown Boston, so I recognized many of the places where some of these films were filmed. I wasn't actually there when they were filming, but it's pretty cool to see a scene in a movie that you've been to.

True. I used to live in Vancouver and every now and then you'd see some building or alley way dressed up for a movie shoot.

A couple I remember were an empty store front made to look like the Muppet Theater for a Muppets Christmas special, as well as an office building made to look like Luthercorp for the TV show Smallville. That last one was cool because they had Metropolis PD police cars and a Daily Planet newspaper box.

The only place I went out of my way to see was the Mansfield Reformatory where they did exterior shots for Shawkshank and the interior for a few of the offices, including the Warden quarters. Also saw the famous tree from the film and a few other landmarks. I met several cast members during the anniversary a few years ago, including Bob Gunton.

Glacier National Park is just to the east of my home where they filmed some scenes for Forest Gump:

The film crew of FOREST GUMP shooting near the famous Going to the Sun Road.

"Forrest Gump jogged through Montana on his trek across the United States and back. Two scenes shot in Montana appear in the movie. Both were filmed in northwestern Montana in or near Glacier National Park. The golden wheatfields that appear briefly on screen are near Cut Bank, Montana. In another scene, Forrest runs across a stone bridge, with jagged snow-covered mountain peaks in the background. This scene was filmed at the St. Mary Entrance to Glacier National Park. The famous Going-To-The-Sun Road, which crosses Glacier Park, runs from St. Mary on the east side to Apgar Village (where scenes from Beethoven's 2nd were filmed) on the west side. Additional footage, shot along Going-To-The-Sun Road, ended up on the cutting room floor. Jim Hanks, Tom Hanks' real-life brother, doubled as Forrest Gump for the scenes shot in Montana."

- I went to Brunel University in 1999 and (at least back then) much of the old nasty concrete buildings from the 60s were still in existence, which is where a lot of Clockwork Orange was shot. I believe the main lecture theatre was where the brainwashing scene was shot.

- When in Gibraltar, I did a tour of the location where the opening scenes of The Living Daylights was shot.
