Why the movie thread was closed by moderators by the way? Looks weird to close one of the most active thread just days prior to the release of the movie...

Even if I hated this movie, I would still buy it on Blu-ray anyway. Because I'm a completeist that way.

Saw this last night and it is excellent! It's also the best use of 3D I've seen in quite awhile, and I'd be interested to see how well that carries over to the eventual bluray release. Also, there are a couple of deleted scenes alluded to in the credits that I am really hoping make it to the disk.

This has seriously become a day one purchase for me.

I agree with you! I really enjoyed it too! I thought the cast had great chemistry and were extremely funny. Overall the film was just a lot of fun.

Also yes the 3D is really amazing! The best I have seen since Gravity and Avatar in my opinion.

Add me to the Best 3D since Avatar team, the 3D was fantastic in this! I saw it in 3D IMAX.

The movie was not perfect by any means, but I enjoyed it quite a bit. Very fun movie.

Overall I enjoyed it despite some of its flaws.

The villain's arc is underdeveloped and weakly executed. Their motivations are told rather than shown which leads to their actions feeling lacking in foreboding malice.

Since the villain's rationale is rather thin it lessens the tension of danger in the climatic battle. Things would have benefited seeing more spectral mayhem affecting the general populace.

The humor and tone of the film did not really gel with me until the troops first spectral encounter then I began to truly enjoy the ride.

This is not a remake per se but it does touch on certain keystone story elements of the original that are clearly evident. Do not expect this to be a Rietman GB film but a Fieg one.

I thought the cast chemistry was great and especially like McKinnon's Holtzmann. The special effects are generally great and the ghosts are well executed. Many are real actors with CG augmentation.

Thankfully the official NuGhostbuster theme song is sparingly used and the soundtrack does make use of the original as well riffs on it to good effect.

Give it a chance and one may discover that there is some fun to be had so long as it is taken on its own terms.

Regardless the originals continue to exist and not going anywhere.

I'm going to pick this up when it comes out, especially if there is an extended cut.

I just saw it this morning. It was better than I had expected - and I truly didn't expect much since, like many others, I was questioning why anyone would even consider rebooting this series. There are many fun nods to the original. And the cameos were well placed. There is some good chemistry with this group. My biggest problem, though, is with Kevin. I didn't felt that his character was truly needed. They could've used any other character
[Show spoiler]when Rowan possessed him during the third act
and the story would still move along. Also, they could've tone down the scene just a wee bit when
[Show spoiler]Abby and team were told to vacate Higgins University. (There were young children in the audience.)
And I felt that Holtzmann was able to
[Show spoiler]invent all those gadgets with way too much ease and quickness given the time span of the film
. Nevertheless, I have some renewed high hopes for the sequel.

That matched the original, really. They invented their tech awfully fast, too. No problem with this at all.

Preordered on the ride home from the theaters. It was really well done, and I think the fact that they actually followed the story development without resorting to a montage was better than the original.

This movie was fantastic in 3D!! So many moments where things went beyond the black bars, and the aspect ratio switched a few times. I can't wait to grab the 3D disc when it releases.

The movie was hilarious too.

Yeah, all of the ratio tomfoolery was great. REALLY hope it's actually like that on the Blu Ray.

Already pre-order it from Walmart.com since I think $22.96 will be the lowest this will get and more likely being a 4K+3D+Blu-ray+Digital Combo Pack which makes the price better.

I don't get all the hate. I enjoy the original and went with low expectation for this film even though I like the main lead actresses. It was fun and entertaining. The 3D effect was freaking awesome. If you have a chance see it in 3D.

Walmart has the 4K UHD Blu-Ray for preorder @ $22.96 - http://www.walmart.com/ip/52198346

I'm guessing since this is Sony, there won't be an iTunes Digital copy included and only UV?

That's a great price, since the 4K will apparently include the 3D and 2D Blus, plus yes a UV copy (no iTunes). I might preorder from them.

EDIT: pre-ordered. If for some reason this doesn't end up including the 3D it's still a decent price, although based on what I've read so far it sounds like the 3D for this is really great, so I may go for that over the UHD combo. Still, hopefully this has both
