That's a great point. The jaunty, bouncy themes are really cool and fun, the organ music themes are spooky (but not too spooky) and the two mesh seamlessly throughout the film.

I think that was the only showing. I also saw Destroy All Monsters this way. It seems odd that these films would just show as part of a Saturday matinee double bill, but maybe that's because we only had one screen in town and they wanted to have something else playing the rest of the week. I remember standing in line with the other kids and watching them paper the side of the building with the billboard for the new regular feature. These are the memories that make me realize I really am old. Last edited by CraigThom; 07-29-2016 at 01:16 PM. |

The pre-order showed up on amazon.ca first but it's a US release. All of North America is the same region and Universal releases the same discs in Canada and the US (and likely overseas as well). This will show up for pre-order in the US shortly. |

I've been searching the web to see if there was a double-feature poster for that re-issue, but I can't find it. However, Universal did do a double-feature laserdisc about twenty years or so ago: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/The-Ghost-and...YAAOxyOlhS9OPz And yes, it does make you feel old remembering how going to the movies used to be when it wasn't a multiplex, or in a mall. The old single-screen neighborhood bijous, with their lobbies and poster displays, were nice things -- and larger "movie palace" theaters with balconies were even neater -- but it almost all went the way of the Dodo Bird over thirty years ago now. If you were lucky enough to be a kid in those last days of old-fashioned cinema going, it can make you feel very old indeed. |
