I don't really see anything wrong with this film being made. The story is pretty timeless, and the film can easily be made for a new generation. It's not like the Pacino Scarface is a masterpiece of filmmaking. It's a cheesy 80's crime camp fest.

It could work if they find the right actor....and I know who would be perfect:

It's not sacred. It's a freaking movie.
Exactly. A Star is Born and Invasion of the Body Snatchers get remade every generation or so because celebrity and identity are timeless. So are crime and criminal organizations. Last edited by octagon; 08-10-2016 at 10:27 PM. |

Back to the Future.
BACK TO THE FUTURE! They will do it. I'm sure of it. And the Mona Lisa is a freaking painting. Doesn't change the fact that it's a masterpiece and it literally makes no sense to redraw it. The best that can happen is that people won't laugh at you. Quote:

I'm a Brian DePalma fan, but not a Scarface fan. The 1983 version is overblown and overindulgent. An epic mess of sleaze and violence saved by its style and panache.
That said, I currently have no interest in a remake. If it happens, it happens... if it doesn't there's always the 1932 original. |

The Oscar Isaac idea sounds first rate. The original article does say they're going for a contemporary immigrant in LA angle, so it can't be a complete unknown. I don't hold the DePalma version in any huge esteem, but I respect its reputation as a classic.
