I didn't get hurt but I did get REALLY surprised when I was camping solo in the Prescott National Forest and something brushed my sleeping bag at 3 in the morning. As soon as I rushed out of my tent I found a juvenile black bear clawing at my tent. Lucky for me I had put my feet on that end of the tent and not my head.

The camp manager told me they'd been there for over 10 years and never had bears bother anyone until a foreign family left all their food strewn all over their campsite - incidentally the same one I had picked. I hear they even got a photo of the bear sitting by the picnic table with what looked like a big smile on their face

I got kicked by a giraffe one time at the zoo. Never been the same since. Just kidding, no animal attack for me.

A moose chased a friend and me through the woods of Maine when I was about twelve. Eventually we got tired and when we looked back, he was gone. Scary for a kid...I guess they call it Moosehead Lake for a reason!

It sure was! It stuck with me for all these years. It could have been worse, though - there were black bears all around that place, too.

I was stroking a dog who was attached to a chain once, and it started nibbling my trainer, then it kept running around my foot, the chain tightening around my leg, then it pulled me down, pulled my trainer off, and started eating my foot. I was trapped, it was like Saw or something...Only with a tiny dog.

And, a giraffe put my whole hand in it's mouth once with it's tongue.

Damn those Yellow Jacket bastards. Got hit by those evil things twice in my life. Both times hurt like hell.

Recently my 4 year old got bite last weekend. Lets just say, I found the nest and they won't be bothering anyone again.

Yeah it happened to me twice when I lived in CT back in the early 90's. I was crossing a creek with my buddies and 2 of them stung my legs and I still played baseball.

The other time happened when I was near the woods and I think I disturbed their nest not knowing it was there and I was stung probably 5 times as I had to run in circles and take my shirt off. I swelled up pretty bad in the chest area.

That has to be 15+ years ago and I still have the marks on my legs, and upper thighs.

I have that same problem, but I would not call it a problem. I have never had a bad animal encounter, I don't know what's wrong you people.

I've been bitten by several animals. Dogs, cats, snakes, etc.... but the most painful bite ever was a six foot iguana. That's some pain. Out of everything I've ever been bitten by... a non-venomous snake is by far the least painful.

Back when I was 19 my friends and I did a lot of off-roading in state parks and wildlife refuges. We did a LOT of stupid things. Here are a few examples.

My friend and I spotted a bunch of those big bee hive wooden box thingies in a wildlife refuge, I suppose to collect honey or something. My friend came up with the brilliant idea of slowly rolling up to one in his truck and bumping it over. The top fell off on one of the bee containers and probably thousands of bees swarmed all over. Some came into the truck through the vents before we could close them and we both got stung a few times thanks to his idiocy.

Another time we were at a state park and found a back road that led to a bunch of gators. I was really drunk at the time and went through some bushes trying to "sneak up" on the gator. Bad idea. I was able to climb back up the hill and get away, but not before a 10 foot gator caught the end of my boot and ripped it off. Thankfully I escaped without a scratch.

Believe it or not, I see many cat bites here at the hospital. (seems like more cats than anything else) And maybe the bite is not so painful, but the infection that can follow is!

I look at my [wifes] cats differently now, and get a little nervous when my two year old son is grabbing at them.
