I believe we'll see 4K DV HDR BD players with MediaTech and Amlogic DV SoCs at CES 2017. If all goes well we'll see 4K DV BD players by Q2 '17 and with luck hopefully a little earlier.

My understanding is that DV capable SoC for UHD TVs is not the same as DV SoC for set-top-boxes and TV DV chips sets cannot be powered or integrated into a set-top-box.

As you know we all are a bit challenged to find vendors that commit to supporting both HDR standards. Its good there might be someone else now pursuing that compatibility in sources as compared to the limited UDTV marketplace that does.

Any news if there will be a Darby version? I will be upgrading from a 83 that is still working flawlessly so I want to make sure it is another long term investment and has all the bells and whistles!

Hdr10 is based layered, so they won't be useless. Everyone with hdr10 will still be buying the..

The information from David Katzmeir of cnet is all over the place. He was told by SVP of Dolby that " 1st dolby vision discs will be 1st half 2017, with DV players coming later in the year".

I like that it has two HDMI outs, so that you don't necessarily need to upgrade your Receiver straight away.

Do any other 4K players have dual HDMI?

Pretty much every one. Samsung, Panasonic/Phillips all offer a 2nd HDMI audio only output for legacy AVR's for example at this time. Just need to look at that models rear view to verify.

Yes, the dual HDMI output isn't just dat OPPO special sauce

Amazing price on that player if true, it's a pity that'll get converted into sterling by just changing the dollar sign to a pound sign but still, I paid that much for my Panny.

I wonder if the HDMI input can be used to upscale Apple TV to 4K.

I hope the external region mod kit will work with this player. I currently have the Samsung 4k player for my UHD discs, but I still use my Oppo 103 for all of my other blu-rays.

You can feed your cable tv through it or any other source, then use oppo processing. I upscale my comcast currently on my 103d.

As long as this player can be modded to play region-locked blu-ray discs (like existing OPPO models), then this will be my UHD player of choice

I'll wait for the specs and price. I'm perfectly happy with the Samsung K8500, but I wouldn't mind consolidating that and my region free Oppo 103 into one player. Hopefully it has HDR-enhanced streaming apps. Amazon did get an upgrade on the Samsung, but Netflix still doesn't have HDR and VUDU may never get an upgrade on that player according to the techs on their message boards.

Great price, this player will be mine. I don't care about DV, my two Sony HDR TVs don't have it and never will and I'm not upgrading for several years. Now I can move my Sammy player to my bedroom TV (930C) and use the Oppo for my 940C.

Really hoping for adjustable subs and a bit rate meter at least. A Darbee version would be nice and I'd pay extra for that, but if not I can keeping using my Oppo 95 for regular blus (for which I have a external Darbee). Anyway I'll need to keep that player hooked up because it's region free.

I wonder if Dolby Vision is being reserved just for higher-end players, as a way to distinguish them from lower models and to justify their MSRP. Because of Atmos and DTS:X, it doesn't make much sense for Oppo to offer a souped-up analog version like they do with current BD models, thus Dolby Vision might be the difference-maker this time.
