Most probably because you can see a line on his forehead that distinguishes between where the j-card ends and the rest of the front steelbook artwork continues.

Has anyone else noticed that the steelbook is listed as being five minutes longer than the standard edition? 192 mins, instead of 187 mins) It's probably a mistake on somebodies' part, but I heard that the DVD was cut back.

Most likely Zavvi's standard way of doing things...

With that said, the first time I saw this was on a VHS (don't look at me like that) from Denmark.
Later I bought the LaserDisc (seriously, if you don't stop mocking my age I'll threaten you with my cane and throw my dentures after you!) and there was a handful of scenes on the LD that I didn't see on the VHS (whether this was because of Danish sensorship or simple the pre-cut edition they had received from Warner is anybody's guess).

Anyhow, there have apparently been different versions so a 5 minute discrepancy *might* be attributed to that...

This was covered exhaustively in another thread. Both parts were merged into one ongoing film and part of the end credits for part one and opening credits for part two were removed, along with a couple of scenes of the adult characters arriving in Derry. About five minutes excised bringing the runtime down from 192 to 187.

I don't follow the other thread, so didn't know that.

IIRC (this is MANY years ago after all) one of the scenes missing from the Danish VHS was something about (better spoiler this just in case...)
[Show spoiler] the hero kids getting bullied by the bad kids and grown-ups that witnessed it simply looked down and continued with what they where doing. Indicating that IT had some sort of hold on the whole town, even the adults.

I'm torn on them making it into a movie. Which I totally understand why but...it would have been nice to offer both that version and an un cut version.

Agree! When they release mini-series (or any kind of series...) I prefer that they are made available with everything intact: Intro, recap, end credits and the lot for each episode. If I don't want to see it I know where to find the FF button (or they could place strategically smart chapter stops...).

If they, in addition to that, also offer "the uninterrupted experience" (or whatever they want to call it) that's fine by me. Or as it was the case with the first season of Breaking Bad (I think that was where I saw it), they offered the Play All either with or without the recap part of each episode!

Agree as well. I mean it can't be that hard to do it the way you suggested right? lol

My only problem with the edited version is that the transition from part 1 to part 2 feels unnatural. It seems they could have done it in a far more natural way by keeping the full sound of the laugh at the end of part one while still fading out visually before the end credit of part 1 appears. Then fade in the beginning music of part 2 more gradually, before you visually fade in after the last beginning credit of part 2.

Really love the artwork. Is this actually still getting a release?? Or are we having another Blade situation?

I emailed amazon.fr last week. They've allocated all their stock. All preordered are accounted for and will ship next week. ☺

It's back up and available for pre-order once again on Amazon.fr. So glad I cancelled my FNAC order, that would have come to $40 USD inc shipping, only $25 inc shipping for the Amazon steelie.
