The Spanish release of Fright Night 2 is from the same people who released the Spanish True Lies blu-ray... about 99% of the people say the True Lies blu-ray is a bootleg, well itīs not, itīs grey market release. So, I think this can also be the case with Fright Night 2.
Check here the explanation... |

You could argue they are a grey release in Spain as their lax copyright laws mean they are not technically illegal there, but anywhere else in the world they would be considered a bootleg. A grey market release is where a retailer in one company sells legal product imported from elsewhere in the world in competition to the local rights owner's product in their own country, An example would be if HMV sold Turbine releases, where Arrow UK hold the rights for the film in the UK. Not really feasible for home video media though, given the BBFC rating rules and the Turbine product wouldn't have been rated here. Not sure if they still do but I remember a few decades ago the massive HMV stores in Central London had a lot of Japanese import CDs at inflated prices. These though were marked to say the UK copyright holder and the artists had been compensated for the product being allowed to be sold here. |

I have decided too to switch from Sony branded players to others and yes the disc finally works in my LG players. The LG players are DVD region free and are locked Blu-Ray region A as I live in North America. Funny thing is, my Sonya PlayStation 4 still plays it too, so I am wondering why as I cannot really find a decent reason for this. My only 2 guesses are that Sony may have something on the boards in the players not allowing them to play region free discs, or it is the software installed on them and not necessarily the hardware.
After watching it a few times since having it, it has developed a pixelated area in the same scene as others are experiencing freezing issues. In the loony bin when Peter is near the staircase, it gets pixelated for a brief moment but continues to play. Sure hope someone, fingers crossed that SHOUT! might get the rights to this and release it for us to enjoy and add to our collection. I still do own the Artisan DVD that released years ago and it works in everything I have, but the picture quality of it isn't the best, plus it is a full screen DVD, but it is still with me as an option. |
