Good on the member that said it was a "masterpiece". Glad they enjoyed it.
I'm all for variety Badas, and as strange as it sounds, I actually really enjoyed Suicide Squad a lot more than I thought I would. And from comments around the place, a lot more than avid Marvel/ DC fans on here. Go figure!

The missus threw BvS on the other day, and I half watched the opening and also caught the bit where Supes punched the living shit outta Ben Affleck, which even I have to admit was pretty bloody satisfying cinema!

I probably wouldn't call BvS a 'masterpiece' based on the Affleck punch scene alone, but I would do that one scene on endless loop in Heaven...

Sanity UHD version is 29.99 with Bonus poster and release date as 07/12, for some reason JB doesn't have release date yet for UHD but expecting to be same day.

My favourite quote in the AUS/NZ thread regarding BvS was that BvS is a "masterpiece". Yep, an actual masterpiece. The same level of elite cinematic brilliance as say Citizen Kane, Casablanca, Vertigo, Metropolis, The Godfather, Rear Window, Bicycle Thieves...

I'll believe BvS is a "masterpiece" when someone can confirm that Troll 2 screens on endless repeat in Heaven.
I think I used those words, I loved the film at the cinemas but the EE really brought it home. mind you the films that you label masterprieces were far from my mind, I tend to keep things in relative context. I have 3 of those titles and especially cheerish my Eureka Steelbook of Metropolis. that is an historical item an archive of history.

I think Interstellar is a Masterclass I think 2001 a space odyssey is a Masterpiece as well.

I will always maintain Man of Steel and BvS are 10 year too late, had these been released a decade earlier, they would be the tent poles of action cinema.

Seriously thinking of updating my signature to "donthitpause AND L-Rouge, purveyors of fine, un-popular film opinion".

I wouldn't say I'm a deliberate, argumentative bastard with my opinions & thoughts on films, but like you L-Rouge, I like what I like, I know what I dislike, and I like it even better when I genuinely have an honest opinion that may not fit in with the general consensus. I won't say black for the sake of not saying white, but I'll say purple over white without any apology if that's how it rolls for me!

And if that somehow manages to piss off both black AND white in the process, well, that ain't my problem, is it...

Robust film discussion was my original reason for deciding to join the forum, but more often than not, 9/10 discussions in the AUS/NZ forum tend to drift off discussing film and slide into personality clashes & personal attacks, which fully blows. I have no problem with 100% disagreeing about films with another forum member without feeling the need to to let opposing opinions get in the way of respecting individuals, and their own unique appreciation for film.

The "context" thing tho, I don't think I'll ever be able to manage a cohesive grasp on that. I can have Bladerunner, The Good The Bad and The Ugly, and Killer Workout all at the same level of appreciation and somehow make sense of it.

Go figure!

Man of Steel I feel is pretty overhated, but BvS being released 10 years earlier wouldn't have helped it imo. But to get back in topic, Suicide Squad on the other hand... I think it would have changed the course for blockbusters for sure. Would have been a landmark film I think (not debating the quality of the film here, but it would have had a far greater impact).

BvS is far too long and was too obsessed with world building. Take it to the two hour mark with out the future setups and there's a great film there.

Thanks mate. Yes back to Suicide Squad please

I finally caught it the other night, and I was super hyped for it. Sure it let me down big time, but I still enjoyed it for what it was.

Really hoping the 4K delivers in the sound department. Not expecting much from the picture quality, but the sound should be the stand out.

Roadshow invited me to a Sydney screening of the Suicide Squad extended cut. It was scheduled for last Tuesday. I took the train into the city and walked into Event Cinemas George St... Only to be told it was rescheduled to Thursday and nobody told me.

I had work Thursday night. I couldn't find anyone who wanted to go with me. I didn't want to use up my sick leave and I didn't want to lose out on night shift penalty rates. And the movie itself wasn't great so it didn't seem worth it. So I just didn't go

UHD is theatrical only? That's a bit disappointing...

The extended cut of Suicide Squad does nothing to improve this pile of tripe, unlike the slight improvements the extended cut made made to BvS. No real loss.

I didn't think the film was that bad, but I do agree that the extended cut was completely unnecessary and did not really contribute anything of substance to the film....

ewwwww... what a terrible cover !! (then .. the film is no better)

Though I've not checked out DVDs for a while ... (will look for it today) it MAY be all of the extras onto a separate disc.....

... it's noticeable that the local companies are leaving EXTRAS off the DVD titles ... and YET Average Joe is still buying them over Blu ?? why ??
