I think I didn't see coming more.
I also agree with the second Departed twist being more surprising, particularly since that was something added for the remake, while the first one was also in the original Infernal Affairs film.

But I would put nothing in Departed in all-time twists, I voted Planet of the Apes, but Empire Strikes Back, Sixth Sense, and Psycho come close (actually the shower scene in that is another hugely iconic twist).

Definitely what's in the box from Se7en

(parenthetically, it is not definite that Deckard is a replicant. It's insinuated, it's implied, it's likely even, but it can't be called a twist if it's nothing but suggestions and shadows that may or may not be true) unless that's the joke one?)

most recently, the twist in Gone Girl is one of my absolute favorites. I read the book so I knew it was coming, but it still shocked me

It's gotta be Rosebud. I know that pop culture probably says "I am your father" or "Norman Bates is his mother" or even "Planet of the Apes is Earth," but as far as the impact of the twist and what it means in terms of reevaluating the entire movie (not to mention the ridiculously huge impact Citizen Kane has had on cinema for the last 75 years), Rosebud wins.

Also what's the point of spoiler-tagging anything in these posts if the poll ruins them anyway? And there's no Witness for the Prosecution on there; this is a crime.

Yeah, it's hard to argue against Empire Strikes Back, though Sixth Sense gives it a run for its money.

Hands down "I am your father." Not even debateable. Which is a shame because its also one of the shittiest twists of all time (if not THE worst).

Soylent Green is people and Bruce Willis being dead are probably next but thats certainly more debateable. Also Rosebud, but I don't even consider that a twist tbh and I actually don't know why it is.

I also tend to like split personality twists, if only because they actually seem to get me most times. I mean, apparently everyone figured out Mr. Robot was Elliot but it surprised me.
