Personally I'd just just sell 'em in one lot and be done with it.

But I've also been in this "I really need to get rid of shit" mode lately lol.

Some Disney DVDs are about all that our local game store will buy any more.

Barring any nostalgia you may have for the discs, it might be timely to sell them...

The only Disney animated titles I've kept on DVD have been the ones with notable extras that weren't ported over to the BDs. I can live without the odd still-frame archive or ancient CD-ROM feature, but something like the Lilo & Stitch "Big Wave Edition" DVD has one of the best and most honest making-of features ever created for a Disney film, and almost none of it was on the BD. If all of the good stuff is ported over, the DVD gets sold off, even if I just get a few bucks for it.

Played MAKE MINE MUSIC this morning. Last week, played the 2000 Fantasia DVD release to hear the sound mix on the 7.1 system.

Yeah...you might want to hang onto them.

It depends if you want them or not. Are you willing to go to the trouble of listing them, and not having anyone buy it for months and months? Or do you just want to get rid of them now. You can always donate them to goodwill or something.

I'd keep them since Disney Animated films on DVD/Blu-ray hold their value. A lot of them are out of print or in the Disney vault.

Disney animated movies are the only movies I have on VHS, DVD, and Blu. Some of the VHS I never even opened. Of course they have no value anymore and the quality isn't worth viewing, but I can't bring myself to pitch them or donate them... so I'm just holding on to them for now. (Non Disney DVDs & VHS I've given away, but can't bring myself to do it with my Disney movies.) You've got to hand it to Disney for creating that kind of brand equity/loyalty.

I spend a lot of time on the second hand markets.

Disney VHS is about the only thing worth anything in that format. You can maybe get a dollar for each one unless you are talking about the special version of THE LITTLE MERMAID or something like that.

Disney DVDs are still popular because DVD is still the most common format out there. You can still get a few dollars in trade value with a second hand store and most of them are still actively buying Disney DVDs because they can move quickly.

If you are willing to invest extra time, try selling them on your own via Kijiji or Craig's List and you can likely get a few dollars more.

I've still kept my Disney DVDs even though I have the BDs for most of them. I have only kept THE LITTLE MERMAID in VHS and maybe a few here and there that I just never bothered to get rid of.

How much does the shimmery super-special textured cover original release version of The Back Cauldron go for on VHS unopened? Cause I have one.

Wow, I never would have guessed that! That's great. There can't be many VHS worth $10-$20 anymore!

I tried the eBay route and got pretty unlucky. Sold a mint opened copy of a Disney Movie Club DVD with slip for $10, eBay and PayPal fees basically robbed me of any dignity with that transaction and to top it off? Buyer claims I sent the wrong edition. I had him send it back (at my expense) and he returns the Gold Collection version case with no disc inside and kept my limited edition DMC slipcover version and DVD. To balance that out, I did sell well over 50 without a single problem and often people were delighted with how exceptional the slipcovers were. Very minty

Yeesh, that's so not okay.

I always say in my listings that everything is sold as-is that I do NOT accept returns for that very reason. I don't trust people to not bait-and-switch me.

Well, I did it. The lot is on eBay starting at $125.00 for 17 titles. I'm sad to see them go (as I think i'll sell them) but honestly, I'll never watch them again - I have multiple Blu Ray copies of most of them, and I really just watch the digital copy now to top it off. I also don't display them - they are just in a drawer. As a Disney collector, this was a hard decision but money is money, right? I have to say i've done well on eBay selling duplicate titles that i've had but it seems that the vault isn't really much of a thing anymore. I guess it was time to sell.

I keep all my DVDs because I would get peanuts for them otherwise, but the Disney DVDs are ones I would keep regardless. Aside from being some of the first DVDs I ever got and thus sentimental value, there are little changes that make each version of a film worth watching. Pocahontas only having "If I Never Knew You" reinserted for example, alongside some releases having the 2D castle vs the 3D castle on the blu-ray or switched transitions (Aladdin and Beauty and the Beast).

Plus they all look so nice and colorful on the shelf.
