I bought the Region B version of this about two months ago and thought the PQ was really good. And finally bought the Criterion release when it went on sale at Barnes & Noble, watching it now for the first time. And the PQ is spectacular. I'm talking jaw dropping spectacular. They have done a stunning job. It's one of my all-time favorite movies.

We need more Almodovar on Criterion. Talk to Her is his masterpiece, so that should be a no-brainer

You likely won't find brought subtitle options outside of wide studio releases, that's just how it works. Subtitles cost money to license/produce, so boutique labels cater to their main demographic.

There is a release from Spain that has Spanish subtitles. I can't vouch for the transfer's quality, or whether it's a bootleg or not, but if you need subs, it's your only option

edit: Here's a site with some screencaps. It actually looks pretty good in my opinion, though Criterion is better.

Not sure why CC decided not to look or use.

Do you think Criterion can just lift a subtitle track from a website and call it a day? Because that's not how the real world works. There are licensing fees, and other factors at play here. If you have a problem with it, take it up with them, but it won't do you any good.

I also provided you with a suitable alternative.

You really shouldn’t complain if you speak Spanish and can actually buy all the Almodovar restorations that have been available FOR YEARS overseas while Criterion/Canal have just been sitting on doing english friendly editions of his last half a dozen unreleased films.
