Can't wait! Just received the first Planet Earth series yesterday as I've never seen it but love that stuff. Can't wait to watch it.

Either way this might be the top 4K disc(s) out there.

Wonder if this will be 4K/60p. Are 4K releases mainly 4K/24p still? I'd expect The Hobbit to be 4K/48p.

This was probably shot at 25 fps or 24 fps. It will be interesting to see if they leave it in PAL 25p if it was shot that way. 25p is supported.

There is no 48 fps support in the UHD Blu-ray spec.

Wild Africa / Tiny Giants 4K UHD Blu-ray
I can't speak for 'Wild Africa' but the 3D of 'Tiny Giants' is paramount in enjoying the feature.

I think it was shot at high frame rate, probably 60p. It looks quite good even in the TV broadcasts. 24p would be a blurry mess, so it was likely frame blended down to 24p. Guess we'll have to wait and see.

If the BBC shot it in a high PAL frame rate, then it would be 50 fps.

Since this is probably going to be a worldwide encode (as most major studio UHD discs have been), we'll see if it stays at a native frame rate or if it's unnecessarily converted.

I know this is probably a very silly question but for anyone who's been watching this as it airs, is there many segments in the show about insects? I have a pretty huge fear of them (all kinds) & its always stopped me watching shows like this.

Sure. There's always macro cinematography about that ecosystem. I'd rather take bugs than snakes. [shudders]

We also really need an Ultra HD release of Life Story as it was shot in 4k but only given a standard Blu-Ray release in March. That needs a UHD release

Nature shows really provide good visual demo material and I often find them far more entertaining than most scripted content as the show all the real life drama that play out every minute of every day on this planet that we are often oblivious too. It is a beautiful yet cruel world we live on

There's already one with 59.94 and 60fps segments, tho it's not in HDR/2020 color space. (The UK ed. probably is the same but I've only seen the German disc)
