I'm guessing the 4K version contains only 4K discs and not regular Blu-ray discs as well?

I really want to future proof and buy the 4K but I won't be getting a 4K set for another year or so.

On Amazon Canada, the HD version is $39.64 and UDH is $52.49. Not bad pricing.

Huh, BBC.com is listing the release date as March 17th for the Region 1 version.

And the pricing is cheaper than what Amazon.ca is listing for UHD ($47.98 vs. $52.49), but more expensive for 1080p ($42.98 vs. $39.64).

Entertainment One in Canada (eOne) lists the release date as March 14th, which makes sense given that's a Tuesday.

Assume you are talking PE2 but it's not 1080/24p, it's 1080/50i so many US people wont be able to play. You'll need a player that can convert 50i>60i or a player that can pass & TV which can handled 50i which are few and far between in the US.

i was fortunate enough to get in on that price. i hope they honor it, as it seems as if it may have been a mistake. it is sitting at 44.95 now and even the DVD version is 35.00

fingers crossed.

Discovery and BBC have parted ways with making US versions of BBC documentaries. Good riddance. Discovery is a pale shadow of what it used to be way back when.

obviously the writers on Ellen DeGeneres' show didn't do their homework - they were saying 'II' would be on Nat Geo, but the second series is a BBC American channel exclusive.

Happy to report that so far my $29 preorder is still in place, so looks like Amazon is honoring it so far.

I need to know what release will be on UHD 24p as my 40'' Philips T.V. set only displays UHD on 24p, nor 25p or 30p. It will most likely be the US release.
I own the US version of Planet Earth released by BBC Video. I didn't know it was shot at 50i and converted to 24p for US release, I don't see conversion artifacts like motion blur.
