Of course, it's always possible I'll see the reremake before the remake.
Rick Moranis is fine in it and is perfectly (type) cast as a dweeb but it's really Ellen Greene's movie who gives a knock out performance and who is an amazing singer. She should have been nominated for an Oscar and I thought she would have deserved to become a big star after this but I suppose people mainly saw her as a musical comedy performer and there weren't that many musicals around in the 80s. The puppetry for Audrey II is pretty amazing as well.

Not excited about a remake, the 80s movie is close to perfect and one of my favorite movie musicals, but I'll keep an open mind.

Is it absolutely certain it will be remade a second time as a musical? I think it would be better suited as a remake of the 60s version, which was kind of like a dark comedy.

Gad would be fine. Dude can sing, he has that Seymour charm. But Wilson would be awful. She can only play that same Fat Amy character.

For some reason the first thought I had for Audrey was Anne Hathaway? Unsure why.

I would even settle for Ashley Tisdale as Audrey before Rebel Wilson.

As long as The plant monster isn't completely cgi. I have no problem with this getting remade again my experience for seeing the 80s flick for the 1st time in theaters will always be with me. The use of practical effects were astonishing and I would hope whoever producing this reboot will not rely heavy on making Aubrey II into a god awful heavy cg spectale like most movies of this era are.

I have a feeling it will be CGI. Star Wars had the money to spend on a mix of good practical and digital effects, WB has to save all its money for their showy DC films.

I wouldn't mind Netflix picking up on a Little Shop of Horrors movie, leaning heavily on the 80's version as a reference, and use mostly practical effects, like Netflix's Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance does. But that's something that'll be unlikely, just a dream.

As for this, two words stop me from loving this project: Rebel Wilson. The rest sounds great aside from her. Perhaps they can leave her on the cutting room floor, or have her be the first meal for the plant. The least amount of screen time she has, the more I'll enjoy this movie.

Audrey as a character is the definition of innocence and naivety.

Let's get Rebel Wilson to play her.

The announcement of a remake with Rebel Wilson as a possible Audrey was three years ago and there is no more mention of her of it in this update. The last speculation was that Lady Gaga was being considered for the role, which wouldn't be a bad fit.

A long time ago Billy Porter starred in a stage revival as Audrey II from which he was apparently fired and recently he has been spotted at the premiere of a new production. This appears to be what has led to the rumors of him voicing Audrey II and that the remake is closer to getting off the ground. It's nowhere to be seen in Greg Berlanti's upcoming projects, so I'd take all of this with a large pinch of salt.

Who cares, it will not be as good as the original and they will use modern effects and the original will still look better.

Little Shop has always been one of my favorite musicals, so I'm excited at the prospect of a remake. Didn't get to see any footage from it, but I saw Amber Riley played Audrey II in recent production. I kinda like the idea of a female Audrey II; I know the plant is supposed to represent Seymour's tough, masculine side, but it would be an interesting spin to have that courage come from a female perspective.

The original version was released in the sixties, you mean the 1986 version with Rick Moranis

How dare you assume the identity of a space plant!!

Am I doing this right?

Thumbs down

Much prefer this to Gad and Wilson, which immediately gave it the shtick of being a "fat version."

But honestly, I see no need to remake this. The original musical version w/ Moranis is so good, and we now have the restored alternate ending, so there's not even that to justify a remake.

If Egerton and Johansson are playing Seymour and Audrey, I'm sold.
