Yeah I noticed that, Best Buy used to be great at stocking 3D releases, but they recently didn't carry Out of the Shadows at all (the first time I ever saw that happening) and just get a minimal first stock of most other 3D releases and often nothing after those are sold (got Tarzan yesterday, but had to ask someone who worked there as they didn't put the 3D version out on shelves and had just 4 copies in the back).

The funny thing is they still have a dedicated 3D shelf (right next to the 4K shelf which is the same size), but it's all older titles with no 3D release from recent months included.

That's interesting, I thought BB was the only one that did carry the Turtles 3D movie.

I was at BB that week and thought they were sold out...I should have asked, but no blue shirt was near.

If I lived near a BB, I would show up every Tuesday and insist that they put out the 3D products, that's ridiculous.

For what it's worth, the last 3D movie I bought there was in the New Release area, not the 3D area.

For the new blu ray 3D releases, Best Buy most times only stocks them at the front of the store display as you walk in. It's easy to miss if going for the blu ray 3D section. I had to ask where they had them awhile back, and was relieved to hear they were in stock for the new 3D blu ray I was about to buy.

BB was charging so much for TMNT OOTS 3D, something like $35.99. I was able to find one at a local store (Bull Moose) for $24.99. My local BB are still pretty good with 3D, Walmart has no 3D and target is hit and miss.

My local BB has more empty bluray shelves than full ones. Plus now employees are taught to hide when customers enter the store. Used to get better service there...

I used to purchase at the stores when they had sales, but I haven't seen one of those in several months. It's all online for me pretty much since the beginning of this year. Mostly Amazon.

I usually pre-order my 3D's from Best Buy online and pick up in store on release day.
Target is scarcely carrying any 3D's anymore...and Walmart has no 3D's at all.
My last resort is ordering on Amazon if Best Buy somehow doesn't come through.

Occasionally BB features some older movies (overstock?). They now have Argento's Dracula for 14.99 on a display. Before it was Comin' At Ya. I saw one of the Resident Evils too for 9.99 and Underworld Awakening on displays...

I went last night to my local Best Buy to buy some 3D movies. Fortunately, they had the ones I wanted. However, I did notice there was NOT a 3D section anymore. Rather, the few 3Ds they had were scattered all over the place.

Surprising to me, was the large 4K UHD section. It took up two display sections with each section having 4 or 5 shelves. Each title had several discs. I didn't know UHD discs were so popular.

Good strategy for making it look like UHD is popular. 3D will find a way to circumvent in my opinion.

They're not. Right now they have some sort of Half Price deal to try and move them. (Which almost never happens with 3D since those generally sell out) But current low sales don't matter. With the holidays coming up they will be pushing UHD and they will want consumers to see that there is content to purchase.

Man, I haven't been to a Best Buy or Target to get a Blu-ray (or anything) in at least 5 years. Maybe longer. Amazon Prime has spoiled me way too much with better pricing and packages at my doorstep, 5 feet from my spot on my La-Z-Boy!

Aaaannnd its GONE. Trip to Best Buy today to pick up Independence Day 3D. Pick it up at the front display as I've done in the past, walk to the back to peruse the 3D section and its gone, all the 3D discs that remained moved into the general section, in alphabetical order. womp, womp. Even the newer smaller 4K section they'd just set up seems to be gone. I think the whole media section will bow out eventually, it honestly seems to be such a shambles.

That's what I had at my BB. Except the 4K section was larger than the last time I was there. And Yes, the media section had been moved to the far back of the store and seemed smaller (but I'm not sure)

I didn't look to see if they had Tarzan. I picked it up from Target awhile back but the 3D version was hidden behind the regular version. I had to search through the regular Blu-Rays to find it.

I like to support my local retailers and have that impulse buy. I've been ordering more and more from Amazon US and Amazon UK.

It's not about popularity, it's about visibility. UHD is still in the process of launching. They want people to know that it exists.

3D-Bluray doesn't need that. Incidentally, I don't really see the need for dedicated 3D sections anymore. If the discs are playable on regular players they can be included with the regular blu-rays. One shop I knew had the 3D section tucked away at the back. I don't think it really helped the situation.

Spreading out the 3D might be something that works for BB sales-wise.

For example, that will now force me to look through the blah 2D product...

Mostly, I just want to see stores carrying 3D movies in the first place.

Target had Tarzan 3D and ID:R 3D, I didn't expect that. Glad to see it tho.

3D and 3D fans are resilient. We will persevere.

The Best Buys in Canada removed their dedicated 3-D sections a while back (at least in my area), and most have also shrunk the movie/tv section by half and moved them to the rear of the store.

They're definitely more into pushing smart home stuff, tvs, large home appliances, and overpriced cellphone plans these days; but there are other stores that have far better deals on all those things, I purchase very little at BB now; sometimes I may drop by on my way home from work Tuesday to pick up a new release if it's high profile enough for Best Buy to carry, but otherwise I take my business to Amazon and the few smaller music and film retailers who are still hanging on.

Imagine if Best Buy stores threw all of the music CDs into a big bin mixed with the DVDs and blu rays and blu ray 3Ds and UHDs and then said, "start looking, the movie you want is in there somewhere". Having its own section is ideal for finding things quicker at best buy, so they're only hurting themselves by making things harder to find.

Luckily, my stores haven't done that recently though they did try it years ago and went back to order and organization.

Music DVDs/Blu Rays always seem to have for music artists/bands at Best buy as one example.

When I went to Best Buy to buy Independence Day the 3D section was totally gone. The employee said they will no longer have a 3D section. I think this speaks more to BB stores than to 3D itself. I don't plan to ever go there again.
