What about projectors? Will they continue to include 3D?

Yeah this made me really mad to read :/
I guess this meens I won't be replacing my tv each 2 years anymore. At least not unless they change their mind and reintroduce 3d and even curved tv's. This meens I will be buying my last tv this year as long as they don't sell out the last C6 before I have a chance to get it. Been waiting the last 6 months for the needed price drops and now I am getting worried that I might actually have to fork up an extra 200$ to get it before it's to late. |

Don't like it, either.
I stumbled into 3D when looking for a new set and I liked the price and reviews and 3D just happened to be one of the features - not the breaking point. Ever since then, I've become hooked. Am sure it would be that way for a few others as well. Guess there will always be sets out there to find. Hoping so, at least. Can't see it completely shut down, however, except for a slew of LGs and Projectors, Crutchfield only had five Sonys on their website. Last edited by Joe D.; 01-04-2017 at 07:37 PM. |

A coincidence "LG's CES 2017 3D Ditch" announcement comes on the same day my LG EG9600 display is showing a sign of failing. All of a sudden, four times in 3 hours, the LG screen turned black, then recovers.
![]() ![]() What I'll miss most is that the LG passive UHD produces the best 3D expereince from any component-to-date and for me, second-best just won't cut it. 2nd in line is not being able to reproduce at home on a perfect 3D screen the future Hollywood 3D features that will ultimately still be made. But, when a door closes....you know the rest. ![]() |

I have an LG TV, still going strong after several years.
I have an older projector from Optoma. The resolution is only 720p, but I'm fine with it for the time being. Since I am the only one in my home who really luh-uh-uh-uves 3-D, I rely more and more on Google Cardboard for viewing my collection. If you haven't considered head mounted displays before now, you ought to look into them. But here's a big question: Whatever happened to 3-D NOW, the company that five years ago was marketing a converter box that would allow one to play frame sequential (not anaglyph) 3-D on any 2-D television? If that technology is still feasible, someone ought to run with it. And another big question: What is going on with the Ultra-D autostereoscopic televisions we were hearing about a year ago? |

That's so disappointing. Looks like I'll be picking up one of LG's E6 OLED 3-D models earlier than expected this year.
I thought LG would stick with it for another few years, at least, if only on their high-end models. Especially considering the cost of incorporating passive is so marginal. I hope this is only being done because there's some new tech on the horizon for viewing 3-D. Autostereoscopic displays, VR headsets, etc. |

Very glad I bought my OLED this summer. The 3D on it is incredible, with the brightness I enjoy it more than at the cinema.
I hope we still see 3D movies released on Blu-ray but it's sad to see one of the best 3DTV manufacturers dropping out. |

A kick in the teeth, but the writing's been on the wall for a while now. I can't afford an OLED right now, I'm never going to buy another LCD, and I can't use a projector; so, I have no idea what I'm going to do when my plasma dies. Guess I'll just have a bunch of spiffy coasters.

This is surprising as I thought LG was see having 3D as a plus since so few others have the option. I hope their sales for the new TVs suffer greatly for this omission. |

If 3d truly is going away at home I will be very upset. But I am set for a good number of years, just wish tv manufacturers would stand by what they claimed was the best new thing for more then six years (the first two years of which generally had sub par 3d on the tv's as well, so really only 3 good years, with this last year having minimal support). :/ |
