I ain't saying it's Citizen Kane or anything, but it's a goddamned masterpiece compared to the rest of them.

The second is an absolute travesty of a film though it's a mindless enough diversion for a couple of hours (IMAX version FTW). I like Dark of the Moon for all the NASA stuff, and Extinction I've only seen once but I was left feeling dizzy afterwards so I've been wary of revisiting it.
Yep - the first one being so solid is why its such a huge letdown that the rest are basically garbage. DOTM is watchable I suppose, but #2 is completely the worst movie ever made and #4 is also tough to sit through. Ugh - so frustrating because the franchise got off to such a good start.

I own #1 obviously on blu-ray and own #3 in 3D/blu-ray. We'll see how this other one fares but my hopes are WAY down due to being burned too often by this franchise. PLus, it would be strange to have a franchise where you only own and watch the 1st, 3rd, and 5th films. WTF? lol

Eh, that's what people say about Star Trek: the even films are good, odd are bad. Maybe BayFormers is the opposite? Then Last Knight should be good.

Hopefully Dolby Vision is up and running by then. The visuals look good.

I only want The Rock. It's the only Bay-splosion film I can stand due to Connery.

Unfortunately, that means I'll be waiting a long time.

They're dumb but they're entertaining, I just wish they weren't 2.5 hours long. These last couple basically bent over backwards trying to come up with all sorts of backstory and exposition and character crap, I just want someone to tell Bay and co. to keep things simple -- all we care about are the damn robot fights.
Bay has no self-editing skills or will power when it comes to this franchise - the running times of these are mind numbing

Yeah, I would love The Rock. Haven't watched it in a while, and I don't remember the original Blu-ray disc being anything special. I need to check it out again, probably hasn't hit the player in 5+ years.

Still is, imo. I watched The Rock and then Con Air, talk about a steep drop off in Blu-ray quality.

The Rock is one of those movies I have seen one too many times and therefore is something I cannot enjoy anymore (Face/off would be another example).

If there's one Bay movie I would like on UHD, it will be 13 Hours.

Never liked Bay's Transformers movies even though I own them all. The second movie has to be one of the worst Hollywood blockbuster experiences ever, as shockingly bad it is even borderline offending I would say. The third one is the most tolerable out of the bunch IMO.

Probably for the 3d version. Could still have a 4k master to be used for the home 4k version.

Sure, Billy Lynn's is something that we know was finished in 4K but only got a basic 2K 2D DCP for wide release because Sony pulled the plug, but on a gargantuan blockbuster like this it makes zero sense to keep the 4K finish away from paying audiences. There isn't even the technical impediment that there was with SMPTE DCPs, as the interop allows for 4K 2D and 2K 3D inside the same package.

I can only think (and hope) that IMAX secured the 4K master for themselves. The VAR isn't exclusive to them but they might've parlayed for the 4K version.

I don't see any 2D IMAX showings in my area, if they're all 3D then they're all 2K, no?

IMAX 3D laser is 4K. And their DCPs seem to be 4K by default these days once the DMR is factored in.

Feels like a wasted opportunity not releasing at least one of the previous ones on UHD, like it was done with Resident Evil. Not that I'm dying to revisit the older Transformers any time soon.
