BestBuy where I live is small, and they barely have any movies at all in store. Walmart has a much larger selection, and you can find movies at Shoppers also. We have three where I live, but only two of them stock movies. I like to check the local stores before ordering something from Amazon. Because you never know what condition they'll arrive in, and how many times you'll have to return a product, before it actually arrives in new condition. For the last couple of years, they've only been shipping movies in bubble envelopes, and thanks to Eco cases, they end up arriving damaged, more often than not.

The closest BB to me is at Metropolis in Burnaby, and i believe that is their prototype/head store in BC. Even this being so...the shelves are pretty close to the pic posted above. The old days where they had so much selection that they had to stack them having the spine showing? Over.

Best place for selection by a landslide now is Sunrise Records located on the otherside of the same mall. Sadly their prices aren't great for non-mainstream stuff. Scream / Shout factory stuff average $30 -35 bucks before taxes...

I find Sunrise very expensive and I think their price reflect the building they area leasing (it must). I hardly see any good sales near my location.

I hop from Walmart-Sunrise-BestBuy on weekly basis + Amazon.ca + WowHD.ca to get the best price. There are good deals out there if you are patient enough. If you want the new release right away, you'll ALWAYS pay for it.

Getting back to Best Buy complaints, I actually don't have any. The price naturally fluctuates and you just need to be patient for the right price.

I was at Best Buy today and picked up a few 4K's & BD's, I hadn't been there for a while and noticed that their selection of movies and shows are absolutely garbage now. I can't believe it, how they have fallen from the amazing set-up & selection of years ago. It's no wonder why I buy 99% of my Movies & TV Seasons from Amazon or Shout Factory ect,

I had the same experience. I hadn’t been to one in a while and I went today. They had only a few blus tucked away in the far corner at the back and a very small display up front. They have dumped most of their shelves in favour of tables to display gadgets. All these tech places look the same now.

I went into Best Buy the other day for the first time probably in well over a year. I was shocked at how little there was, even though they still had a large section of shelf space dedicated to physical media. None of the new releases over the past several months could be found on any of the shelves. It really sucks that the only place left to buy movies in Canada is either Walmart, where the discs and packaging are treated horribly and are usually dented and crushed, or severely overpriced London Drugs.

That has been my experience too.

My local walmart has very few 4k or new releases too.

It is a shame.

I have bought most of my stuff off Amazon lately.

In all physical locations I've visited recently the prices are too high and pickings too low. There are occasional good prices but they lag behind online choices (i.e. I already bought them on sale many months ago).

It's getting tougher, but I'm still ordering from the UK or the US. I find that you'll at least be somewhat "guaranteed" to have what you're looking for in stock, or as rare as it is in this country (unless it's Disney) even pre-orders are available too! Yes, I know, huh?!

Being region-free for so long now, I don't know if it's been a good-thing, or if it's been a bad-thing. Only financially speaking, of course!
