^ He clearly meant in America where RE did indeed bomb, and was saved by a continued interest overseas. In America as a result there was no 3d blu-ray. This on the other hand didn't bomb but is probably a disappointment, though it does seem some places will still be getting a 3d blu (not seen anything 4k related though).

If America gets a 3d blu is always a strange one, you never really know. UHD continues to be almost random.

And Sony's probably done with the 4K/3D combos, since VideoETA's listing for the 4K edition of Smurfs only includes 4K and Blu-ray..

It is a good decision IMO. It is time for DVD to go, just a waste of disc and space.

It's a bad move for studios to pull that, especially with family/kids movies.

Exactly.. and the Blu + Digital trend might be a new thing for Sony now!

JS DVD has a pre-order for 3D for July 7 release date. I didn't see too many details but this is the first Region A announcement I've seen. I cancelled my pre-order from Amazon DE and pre-ordered here.

A lunch box- that's certainly better than 3D.

Absolutely, thought this movie was fun, don't know why it has such a low RT rating. Now granted it's been a long time since I was a kid watching the cartoon on Saturday mornings, but this movie seemed more true to the Smurfs I remember and was way better than the live action ones, which I really didn't care for.

Will be ordering this as soon as I figure out which 3D version to import... probably the UK one, once there's a cover image for it on Amazon...

I've noticed it more and more, it's the way things are very quickly going now.

I just ordered Smurfs 3D from Buyoyo earlier today. The overall cost is a little cheaper to USA compared to JS dvd. I had to order my Underworld: Blood Wars 3D and Resident Evil: The Final Chapter 3D from there as well last month.

Is there going to be a UK 3D release for this movie?

I'm ordering Beauty & the Best 3D from UK soon anyway...

I'd rather just order both and be done with it.

Wish they had kept Hank Azaria as the voice of Gargamel. Wish we had got a proper Smurfs origin story, like who or what has been cranking all of these Smurfs out & bringing them to life?
