Between this and the footage in the finale, it's kinda crazy how much alternate footage they shot for this one.
Those alternate clothed shots from the French VHS are all available as a short featurette in the bonus section of the German DVD.

No, I meant I received an email saying they shipped out my copy. I was just wondering if others received the same. I'm curious because last time, multiple posters said they never received any type of notification and the disc just showed up.

got it and again he just can't get a proper Screen Ratio working. squished Video, all people are too flat, just as in "Last Strike" before. didn't check other stuff yet.

Out of the four films he's done so far, which one would you consider to be the "best" (least bad...)?

Clones of Bruce Lee is the most worthy to me. Stretched, not squished this time around. but the movie is not as horribly annoying "comedy" as Drunk Cat is, just super hyper trash (if you like that sort, if not stay far away).
Last Strike looks just horrible with lots of green slime rot lines and bad inserts in wrong Ratio (35mm Source squished as Drunk Cat). i have not bothered with the fourth in the "series" as it was the least interesting to me.

Hope they have print of Legend of a fighter from Seasonal Films Corporation. I have asked them today. They had the very rare Lackey and the lady tiger also from Seasonal. So there is hope that we can finally see this FANTASTIC movie in original aspect ratio.

Legend of a fighter was released on dvd but it had very heavy DNR also the picture was cropped to 1:85 instead of original ratio that was about 2:40.

cropped to 1.78 with additional zooming in to mask frame damage and splice lines. so it's even less than what was left from 1.78 originally.. horrible crap

Yes i was very disappointed especially after seeing the original trailer. Massive amounts of the picture was missing in the HKL presentation.

I really like Legend of a fighter and consider it one of the best Seasonal Films productions.

I know that the picture had massive damage but the DNR and cropping really killed the picture quality i would rather have had more damage visible and had as much detail as possible intact.

I wonder if someone who worked at Hong Kong Legends still retains a transfer that was not DNR:ed and cropped. The problem is how to get in touch with any people who worked there so many years ago.

I also tried to get contact details for the Seasonal Films Corporation. I saw Roy Horan who was a seasonal executive and also star in some movies at Facebook but he never answered my questions.

I am willing to pay serious money for some of these movies. I have no problem spending 200-300$ per title or even more if i can be certain to get best possible 1080p or 4k transfers of Legend of a Fighter, Ninja in the dragon's den, Dance of the drunk mantis and Tower of Death.

Did HKL really crop it to mask the print damage or was it more due to the fact that widescreen (16:9) televisions weren't as ubiquitous at the time of release & they wanted to placate their buyers who would complain about the letterbox bars?

According to what Spannick was saying... HKL cropped it to 1.78 (for the reason you mention) then matted it further to hide damage and splice lines.

The excuse given by HKL's Brian White at the time was that their target teenage audience didn't like black bars.
