Barf. Here's the thing, I don't think making movies about villains is inherently a bad idea. Almost any idea can be made into a good movie with the right people involved. But it's Sony. They suck at making movies and their attempt at building a universe is so transparently desperate given their financial woes and creative bankruptcy. Given how they've f*cked with Spider-Man since Spider-Man 3, I fully expect a stand-alone Sony-produced Mysterio movie to be crap. That pisses me off especially since Mysterio is a character I've wanted to see for years on the big screen and was hoping would appear in the Homecoming trilogy (thank God he was skipped over in TASM 1 & 2). Kraven is getting the sh*t end of the stick too, I was hoping Kraven's Last Hunt would be the story for a Spider-Man movie. Not to mention, if these movies are separate from the MCU, who the hell is going to be in those? These are two major Spidey villains who've yet to appear in a live action film. If Sony didn't start this BS back with SM3 we could've potentially had a great 4-6 film franchise with Tobey in the role, and maybe Raimi would've directed at least SM4. I hope these don't go into production just like the Sinister Six movie and that hilarious Aunt May spinoff. End of rant.

Even that was only interesting because it was Wolverine who did it and the repercussions for Logan. Mysterio was barely a footnote.

Guys, think about it here. They are not making SOLO Mysterio or KRAVEN films. Those would never work on their own. They will however be introduced in some of these future films we are getting or will be the main villains in SpiderMan 2 or 3.

So relax and just be patient. How many damn rumors are BS in the end? Think about that and just sit tight. This is a great time to be a SpiderMan fan.

I have no doubt that Sony wants to make a Mysterio and Kraven and Chameleon and Frogman and Stilt-Man and Will-o-the-Wisp and Prowler movies because they think being ancillary Spider-Man characters means these movies will make them 3 gazillion dollars a piece, but they're not going to make half the shit they want to / say they're going to.

Suicide Squad has set up the possibility of Villain CBM.

I have no problem w/ a Villain film thats like American Psycho or The Professional.

Marvel Super Villain Team-Up used to be a book.

Good writing is good writing. Some of these villains have enough story thats not dependent on their arch-hero. Just like u can have a Peter Parker story that doesnt have him in costume or face one of his costumed enemies.

But I think its really bad timing. Let Homecoming settle and then see if its worth doing this. I'd rather have 2 or even 3 positive (doent have to be great) Spider-man films before we start "spin-offs". Even if theyre existing outside of the MCU.

I very much agree Kraven and Mysterio solo movies aren't getting made.
