Sony is just desperate for another hit at this point.

As others here has said, a sequel for this is not necessary and to add, I have a feeling that Wright will turn them down. I'd be surprised if he said yes.

I'm torn. It doesn't need one but I f-ing love this movie and can't deny I'd be excited about one. I've now seen it three times and believe it or not it was better every single time.

Less than an hour ago, the facebook page for Baby Driver posted a video of Ansel Elgort in a sports car spinning around then driving up to the camera and saying, "Baby's Back."

But now it's gone?

Same here. I really want Hot Fuzz 2 (and Spaced: The Movie), but I wouldn't turn down Baby Driver 2... if, and only if, Edgar writes & directs. If this turns into a studio cash-in by some no name hack, no interest at all.

The first was underwhelming. Some great scenes but boring in others. Still I'd be open, better than a lot of stuff.

Baby Driver 2 talks “already in the works”.

Quote:
Looking forward, Wright says he has yet to officially sign on to his next directing project but he is likely to be involved in a follow-up to Baby Driver at some point.

“Those talks are already in the works,” he reveals. “The deal is being hammered out as we speak. So, hopefully, I’m going to at least write a second one. I’ve definitely got lots of ideas. Whether it’s the next movie, I don’t know. I’m just working that out at the moment, actually. I have a couple of things that I’ve been developing, and also a couple of new ideas that I had, and all the nice things things that I’ve been offered since [the release of Baby Driver]. I would like to get back on the saddle very shortly, because — slightly beyond my control — but there was four years between The World’s End and Baby Driver. I don’t want it to be that long again. I would love to have a film out in the next two years.”

As much as I loved the first...I don't want to see Wright crank out a mercenary sequel when he could be creating new movies.

I remember really enjoying Baby Driver in theaters. It's been sitting in my Top 10 ever since. But the more I look back and reflect on it, was it that good? Or just fun and enjoyable? Was it a quality film that was full of meaning and will stand the test of time? Or just a fairly generic film that has above average style to it?

With that being said, I don't really know if I would even want to see a sequel to this. Just waiting for John Wick 3.

A ton of room for improvement over the first and I'd be interested in it if a new director took the helm.

I loved Baby Driver but it doesn't need a sequel, I found the first film satisfyingly complete.

I'm a huge Wright fan, but I wasn't too impressed with Baby Driver. I wasn't enthused by TWE, too. I don't know, I feel as if I should support Baby Driver because it tries to do something different in a sea of same ol' - it has oodles of style to spare - yet it felt very bitty at times. It's fun, great to look at, but not quite there IMO. I think I kind of have this strange cut-off point for talent that I feel are capable of taking it to the next level, but for whatever reason don't grow or develop their style. I dunno, I'm probably being too demanding.

First Draft of the script is already finished

Quote:
In the new issue of Empire, we’re celebrating the career of Edgar Wright – the visionary, playful, genre-twisting British filmmaker behind the Cornetto trilogy, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World and Baby Driver. While his most recent film saw him steer into crime-thriller territory, delivering rip-roaring car chases and spins on the traditional heist movie, he’s about to venture even further from his comedy roots with his next film. Talking to Empire, Wright revealed his next project is a straight-up psychological horror-thriller – he cites Don’t Look Now and Roman Polanski's Repulsion as influences – set in London, and starring a female lead.

“I realised I had never made a film about central London – specifically Soho, somewhere I’ve spent a huge amount of time in the last 25 years,” Wright tells Empire in the new issue, out 24 January. “With Hot Fuzz and Shaun Of The Dead you make movies about places you’ve lived in. This movie is about the London I’ve existed in.” The film will shoot this summer from a screenplay co-written by Krysty Wilson-Cairns.

Elsewhere, Wright is continuing to work on his documentary about the cult band Sparks, and his previously-mooted Baby Driver sequel is still in the works. “A first draft of Baby Driver 2 exists,” he confirms, adding that it introduces a whole swathe of new characters following the original's high body-count, and “takes the story further”.

Didn't realize this was possibly getting a sequel. Liked the first one a lot but the ending is so bad that it killed any interest I'd have in a sequel. One was enough.

Hope the sequel doesn't happen, not because I disliked the original, but because I LOVED it, and don't want to see it flattened out into Yet Another Franchise. Give us more original movies, Edgar. I can't wait to see you tackle horror.

I thought the ending was left a little bit dreamlike and open to them doing a sequel but i'm personally not sure where they could take the sequel tbh. I just don't want them turning this into a Fast and Furious clone.
