Well, it does look like the worst damage does extend to the artwork, in the center of the spine, even on the second copy. However it's minor compared to the first, which is why I said I'd definitely consider just quitting while I am ahead, as I could have gotten something worse than the first set. Plus, I did get a good price on it, even though I don't think that should excuse them shipping out clearly damaged goods.

Of course, the other folks here who are reporting sets with no such issue, even ones who purchased via BN. Go figure.

Got mine from B&N. The second season was in different shrink wrap, though. Like it was re-wrapped. There was a loose disc in there, but no damage to the disc nor the holder. All artwork, the box, and book are fine.

Seems like bad luck. I would quit while you're ahead.

I agree, even though I think it's a little more than bad luck, as there's quite a few reports of it. Nonetheless, I managed to not get a fully intact set in two tries.

Today was the last day I could return the first one, so I went ahead and did that at a store. They, of course, had none in stock, but offered to order me one with ship to home if I wanted to try again. I was on the fence until they agreed to apply the 25% coupon to the now 60% off price (I bought when the sale first started, at 50%). Even without being able to use a cashback site, that's still a good amount less than I paid, so I decided to give it one more shot.

If this one doesn't work out, I'll either keep the second one as planned (which I'm holding onto until I see what I get) or see if they'll agree to just swap out a season two (of which they did have one in stock).

A quick update for anyone who cares (which may not be anyone else, at this point):

My ship to home order was very quick and arrived today. First impressions - no damage to any spines! Hooray! Unfortunately, the slipbox itself isn't pristine, but I'd much rather have that kind of simple typical wear than damage to the art/cases.

That said, from the sound of it, I do believe this one may again have loose discs. Whether they're just loose or the cases are damaged inside, I'm not sure, since they're still both sealed.

So I'll be making my final trip to BN to return one of these since I do still have two. While I am there, I will probably ask them to let me open both and keep whichever one has less damage, since I don't want to assume that the contents of either of these are fully intact (based on feedback from others).

It's been a hassle to be sure, but barring both of them having damage once I open them, I think my minor saga may be over.

It rather cheap now and I would like to know if it has English subs. Amazon.it says no, but they're not always trustworthy...

Haven't found an answer to my previous question yet.
But I see there is a new chaeper set being released in February, only I couldn't find more info on it what's different from the previous release.

Good point. I had only glanced at the 1st of 3 Amazon pix. I was searching for unboxing videos for that 2024 release w/o success. I am guessing it does Not have the thick book.

I bought the 2024 rerelease during Black Friday off Amazon and it was in a Bluray case

A 10-disc blu-ray case isn't terrible (so long as it isn't a stacker). If I didn't already have the original boxed set, I don't think I'd be scared off by the new release.

$25.99 is a great price. I purchased this 2024 edition for $27.99 from Amazon (11-22-2024) but have not yet watched it. I had been waiting for the 2017 edition, with the 5 separate cases & thick book with many photos, to drop in price from $59.99.
Per CCC that 2017 edition had been $32.99 May 2024.

I didn't get the book but, I saved shelf space
FYI, the 2024 edition is in a BD case & each disc is on a separate spindle. So, no double stacking or disc envelopes.
