[raises hand - in not digging the 2.39 aspect ratio]

Why? ....just why??

New screens are 1.85 - it's very rare for theaters to construct screens with CH scope movies in mind

I liked it also as the image from my projector fills the wall area above my speakers - 140 by 70 inches.

I was totally pumped for this trailer and wow talk about a let down. So thats the plot: save dinosaurs from an exploding island. I can't believe that was approved.

Yeah....ehhh..... not too sure about this now. Damnit. Love JP1 and I actually liked JW1 too. I have both in 3D and really wanted a nice, tight 3D trilogy of those movies. Obviously we have to see how it ends up but I agree that the trailer didnt give me a good feeling.

One of the things I like about the original is how grounded it is; they do absolutely everything they can to convince us we are looking at real dinosaurs.

This seems more in the tradition of that dinosaur stampede from the 2005 King Kong. Fun for what it is, but more of a cartoonish action-comedy scenario.

The 3D looks good, mostly medium layered 3D. Thanks. Looks on par with the 3D of Jurassic World.

The trailer wasn't very exciting IMO and seems to be lacking a good flow to the build up as it's broken up with action, slow dialog, action, etc. It seems more like a trailer for a drama film than an adventure action film.

Probably the biggest concern is that it makes me think of Jurassic Park 2's story of how the dinos got loose on the island and made it back to the city, and about how the Dinosaurs found a way to reproduce, with the dialog repeated from Jurassic Park 1 by Jeff Goldblum. Glad to see him in the movie though.

I am relieved it's not another "Let's build another dinosaur park, but this time it'll be much safer" movie.

I'll definitely check it out for the 3D and Dinosaurs.

My favorites are the original followed by Jurassic World. I did like a lot about the fourth movie, so I was looking forward to its sequel. The shot in the trailer of the T-Rex unconscious in the truck or whatever definitely made me think of Lost World. And then we learn that Pratt and Howard don't end up together, just like Grant and Sadler didn't end up together. And then it all kind of keeps going downhill from there.

The basic concept of the dinosaur amusement park is a wonderful concept - that's why it was so exiting to see Jurassic World, because it showed us the park actually fully operational and fully realized that we never got to see in the first movie (and never could have seen with the same grandeur that World achieved). But now we are just back to "let's round up dinosaurs, let's get chased by dinosaurs, let's have Pratt be a dinosaur whisperer, let's have a T-Rex save the day..." There's nothing new or interesting about this whatsoever.

I expect them to do a 3D release at least somewhere. Universal's The Mummy got a 3D release, and JW2 will be a much bigger movie.
Not in the US though right? I was never able to find it

At least RealD 3D was there for a split-second.

It’s not a particularly even-handed way to report on aspect ratio, but here’s Bayona on the decision to use such a wide aspect ratio.

https://www.slashfilm.com/fallen-kingdom-aspect-ratio/

“I think one of the things I’m telling the camera operator all the time is that we need to do a movie that cannot be seen on a plane,” said the filmmaker. “So we are using all the format, from the extreme right to the extreme left. We are filling the frame in a beautiful way.” Bayona even went as far as to compare the look of Fallen Kingdom to something shot by cinematographer Vilmos Zsigmond, who filmed Close Encounters of the Third Kind, The Deer Hunter and McCabe and Mrs. Miller. “You saw the frames [of a Zsigmond shot film] and they look like paintings,” said Bayona, adding: “And Steven [Spielberg], all the Indiana Jones movies and the frames, they look like paintings. And I wanted to have that in this in a Jurassic movie. So we created this big canvas.”

Could you interpret “seen on a plane” as also meaning, ‘seen at home’?
