Sort of like an inoffensive commercial or song which is fine the first you see or hear it...but then it's overplayed and over-saturated and gets on your nerves.

But that "be yourself" message is so overdone in feature animation, it's almost banal.

People should have been praising Tangled the way they praised Frozen.

My first exposure to the film was actually while I was in Japan (they actually had sing along showings ), and I'm kind of grateful I wasn't here in the US for our theatrical showing. It was hard enough enduring all the bounceback when the movie hit DVD. Olaf toys for months, then every other girl was Elsa or Anna at Halloween.

Not that Rotten Tomatoes is a valid way to measure general audience preference, but Tangled and Frozen have identical RT scores (89%), Moana has a 96% rating.

I did not care much for any of those.

They were all good, but would not call them great.

My Disney favourites are BAMBI, THE LITTLE MERMAID, BEAUTY AND THE BEAST and ALADDIN.

THE LION KING was good, but totally predictable and I've seen that store 100 times before.

The Lion King is very similar to Bambi, with the exception of the Hamlet infusion. Animators jokingly called it, "Hambi".

RT scores are so weird. Like the Lion King sequels for instance, #2's low score comes from 6 "professional" review sites I've never heard of, 4 of which criticize the film for either being predictable or being a cash grab. 1.5 however got more positive reviews from critics for being a fun romp but a more realistic 61% from the audience.

As for classic movies like Bambi, reading some of the modern critics reviews is a riot. "The bogus art which has been creeping into the Disney pictures is really hammered at you in this one." Okay... "Bambi is . . . MALE?!"

I don't think it was back in 2013. Maybe it is now, but it's still a powerful message most people need.

That's another topic, but I feel like Roten Tommatoes' scores are unfair nowadays. For example, Moana (which didn't even win an oscar) has a 96% rating and it's definetely not as good as Frozen, Beauty and the Beast (93%), or even The Lion King (92%)! Furthermore, Zootopia has a 98% score, and even though I love it, it definetely doesn't deserve the title of the "highest rated Disney movie of all time"!

It was already a cliche by the time Tarzan was released in 1999.

I love Zootopia. I'd rank it higher than Frozen.

Highest rated? Are they going to ignore Pinocchio's 100%?

You're right, I totally forgot Pinocchio's score
"Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" also has a 98% score, along with "Zootopia".
Pinocchio definetely doens't deserve a 100% score, IMHO

You're right, Fantasia deserves it for inventing surround sound. But I feel bad for Dumbo, who has only one negative critic review basically calling it practice animation. Little guy can't get a break...
