Already have the UK (Network) release but will be tempted to pick this up if it is a new improved scan / better video quality.

Yeah I own it because I had not other version, and it is a little better than the dvd, but it is awful. A horrible scan to start with plus compression artifacts, etc.
I was thinking about 90's movies with this one coming out and someone having mentioned After Dark, My Sweet in another thread. I would love a release of Suicide Kings. I know the DVD came from Lionsgate, so if they still have the rights, I would have to get very lucky to ever see a blu-ray release. |

Please Scorpion, do the right thing and add (optional) ENG subtitles for this release. It seems like a pretty big title for you guys, so you should go all out and make it the best it can be!!

there's a Spanish blu-ray (Divisa) apparently even encoded into MPEG (that's what is written on the back of the artwork- I don't know if someone tried to buy it (they have some """half-legit""" releases, but their Almodovar and Bigas Luna movies I bought are amazing in terms of PQ (I'm complaining about the audio being lossy). But judging the comment at amazon.es regarding compression artefacts/pixels in all dark scenes, it looks like it is a "rip" of the Blu-Ray UK Network (which I bought)
This transfer is very frustrating to say the least (the Network - Which I bought). While this is real HD treatment, all the dark scenes (and there's a lot) all the smoking scenes in the bar, have terrible compression problems (we are not talking about artefacts here but macroblocs) I really hope that Scorpion will start from scratch. This movie is IMHO one of the best film noir after to "Body Heat" (which was more classic), "Black Widow" (with another amazing actress, Theresa Russell) was good but wow this one! Ms.Linda Fiorentino with her silk-black hair and her Lauren Bacall look but the bi(eep) to its heights. Stunning photography (that's why we need a descent transfer) and very nice jazzy music. This is my favorite role of Linda, but don't forget her - so smocking hot - in "After Hours" (1986) - apparently this underrated Martin Scorsese movie with an irresistible Griffin Dune is rumoured to be released via Criterion. Whatever we are waiting for the blu-ray... Last edited by RupertPupkin; 09-20-2017 at 04:17 AM. |

I've been waiting for a long while, holding off on the reportedly sub-par Network UK release. The Scorpion disc will look nice beside my import of RED ROCK WEST, which has SD opening credits before the impressive HD image kicks in. That's a disc worth owning.

Had no idea this was coming. KLI said in the Kino thread it was dropping 11/20.

Linda Fiorentino's performance in this is right up there with Turner in Body Heat as one of the greatest celluloid femme fatales of the past 40 years.
