Should I be concerned about region coding if I get the 4K steelbook? I know by 'default' 4K is region-free, but a part of me is very wary about pre-ordering this without confirmation...

The "crowd funded" approach is a business model where the end users and consumers directly fund the enterprise, in contrast to a traditional business model where the producer gets venture capital and business loans to fund the development.

BTW this is a special edition and they may produce special extras unique to this release.

The indigogo crowd funding approach is perfectly okay for products that you know can and will be made. (If the product has a challenging or hazy development roadmap that runs into development roadblocks and legal issues, then it could be stuck in development hell.) The business risk is that the manufacturing plant could burn down, or some unforeseeable event.

Already £13,410 raised of the £15,000 goal, pretty impressive.

4K UHD is Region free by default
Blu-ray will be region B

This release will have exclusive extras
The more funds it raises everyone gains at no extra cost involved than what you already paid for the perk option you picked

Details of the next target will be announced soon

After watching the 4K Synapse restoration at the Kentucky Theater in Lexington this Sunday, I really want this in 4K UHD.

The problem is: we've seen recently released "4K" releases like Arrow's THE THING that do not look like 4K at all (you can say Shout! artificially sharpened their release all you want - if you are doing a 4K restoration of a 35mm film negative, you should have a tremendous amount of detail, short of the actual camera focus being off).

So the problem is: what is this really going to look like? Should I invest @ $35 to $40 US on something that could look worse than Synapse's regular blu-ray edition?

We expect it to look like the Italian release, which I already have.

There seems to be an audio problem with the Italian release. The vocals are too soft.

I am upgrading to the UK release because of the extras, which the Italian release did not have, and also, I am hoping for the audio to be fixed.

I already have so many versions of Suspiria, and I am somebody who cannot tell the difference between them!! (I am buying the new version only based on the screenshots shared on this forum!)

Possibly, but they are saying it's going to be a new 4K transfer, so we're still in territory.

Did Cult Films post screen caps of what this is going to look like?

There are only two restoration/remastering works: the Synapse one and the TLEFilms (Italian) one. Presumably, the UK release will use the TLEFilms one.

They're over 28K GBP now, surpassing their stretch goal. Under 200 Steelbooks remaining.

Quote:
Stretch Goal : if with your support this campaign reaches £25,000 we will make this Limited Edition even more special! We'll add an additional disc of bonus features by filming and editing our own extra features and/or sourcing and reviving long-disappeared iconic documentaries on Dario Argento - and more depending on funding and production budget! This will mean that you will get more for the same amount pledged and that every penny will go towards making this project your own unique definitive edition! So, spread the word!

Shouldn't this be moved to the Future/Metalpak section now?

This is a FuturePak case. The case opens out and lies flat on a table.
