Nothing will ever best the 1993 film. Why are they even trying?

Nothing? Well we can count you out as going into this with an open, unbiased view.

I don't really see how a live action Mario could be better than the 90's version honestly. Glad this is animated

I enjoy the 93 film....but I'm definitely anticipating this one.

The ‘90s film is a terrible Mario movie, but it’s hilariously watchable.

So now that Sonic is an unexpected big hit and turned out to even be better in quality than people thought it would be, the ball is in Illumination’s court to see if they can deliver on this Super Mario movie. I wish it wasn’t them doing it. I know they will nail the aesthetic, but all of their movies cater to the bottom of the barrel in terms of story and comedy. Let’s hope it’s great!

It can't be as bad as the '93 film...

It’s a-official! The Super Mario movie is set for 2022 – with Nintendo also re-affirming that Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto is collaborating on the project as well as providing an update on the animated Nintendo video game movie. [×]

It seems mad that we got a Super Mario Bros movie in 1993 but it took until 2019 for a Sonic the Hedgehog movie to be made.

With the lack of success with video game movies that is a good thing. Way to many times the creators of the game are left out, while the studio just throws whatever they want up on the screen. If there was more care with the projects there would have been more Sonic type movies, and less Super Mario, Alone in the Dark, House of the Dead, Farcry, etc

Well I really love the Super Mario Bros movie, I much prefer it to Sonic the Hedgehog.

Sigh, oh boy. I just hope they don't dumb this movie down with vapid jokes and trendy flavor of the month pop culture references that'll date the feature like a year later... and they probably will. SMB is ripe for animation, but this could go south yet again with the property.
