Some films have used frame breaking effects in ads without actually using them in the movie, so I don't see that as confirmation. Though if it is included, looks like the U.S. IMAX release is 2D only unfortunately

I just watched on realD 3D, I would say overall 8/10 for the 3D. most of it is depth with a few here and there pop outs (nothing in your face tho) and I though that the 3D was best during the fights. Worth checking imo.

Caught an Imax 3D screening today on a whim.
I would concur with BLMN, although I wouldn't give the 3D higher than a 7/10. I found it well-done/average early on, and felt it ramped up during the climax. Popouts tend to be incidental, although there were a handful of shots that were very pleasing indeed. Among other things I recall an aerial antenna on Sears Tower that noticeably pierced the screen. I watched for frame-breaking and expanded aspect ratio, and didn't find a single example of either. I believe it's fixed AR the whole way through. Movie is dumb as they come, but it delivers, and it entertains. I don't really think anyone can complain here; it does what it says on the tin. I was unfamiliar with the video game, and don't know if that has a fanbase that may have wanted something different. Naturally the plot is just a thin excuse to deliver spectacle, and the movie certainly does that. I can't imagine anyone will feel short-changed for giant monster on city devastation. The movie is also determined to exploit Dwayne Johnson's action persona, so expect a series of larger-than-life heroics in which the Rock fearlessly tosses himself through all kinds of million-to-one survival scenarios. His character is quite indestructible. And irresistible to women. One other thing: I think it's entirely possible that someone involved with this movie may have seen A*P*E 3D. There's a scene in Rampage which may well be inspired or an homage of sorts to A*P*E. Those familiar with A*P*E can probably guess what I'm talking about! The scene certainly had the intended effect among the audience I saw it with. |

... in a sense. It was well handled though, in the context of the movie.

Went to see this tonight and sadly didn't get to. The trailers and previews went by fine then the movie started. Only problem was it was playing Ready Player One 3D. I went to the front counter and told them this. Then they went to start it but only ended up restarting Ready Player One 3D. I don't know the whole story behind it but they couldn't play it. Those of us that were there (3 of us) got re-admit passes.
Getting back to the trailers, while they are somewhat fresh on my mind... Got to see the trailer to The Meg on the big screen. Even tho' it was in 2D I still want to say "YOW!". 3D trailers... Skyscraper ~ medium-strong to strong Wreck-it Ralph 2~ Ralph Breaks the Internet ~ medium-strong |

Saw it tonight in 3D. Good summer movie.3D was well-executed. Special effects, especially of George the gorilla, are top-notch (and I am very critical of CGI). We enjoyed it. Check your brain at the door and have fun,

I'm gonna go see this on Sunday, reserved a ticket already. Looks dumb enough to be fun. I played a couple of the games when I was a kid - the ones they released on the Nintendo 64. There was barely a story at all so I seriously down there's a devoted enough fanbase to be seriously upset by the changes in the movie.

Saw this in IMAX 3D. Opening scene and climax have some nice 3D. The antenna scene that Interdimensional mentioned was probably the best 3D shot. Along with the shot of
[Show spoiler] Serviceable 3D. Movie was dumb, and hell, even the monster fights weren't that amazing - especially compared to Godzilla and Kong: Skull Island. |

Saw it in 3D with Dolby glasses. Start of the movie was very impressive and the 3D was great. After that the movie gets very dumb and the 3D is mostly average with some strong moments.
Movie 4.5/10 3D 7.0/10 The picture was framed 2.39:1, no frame breaking effects. |

I went to see Rampage in IMAX 3D last night,
Silly but a very fun movie. The 3D was very good and you could tell some effort went into filming with 3D in mind, some pop outs but great depth and serious load soundtrack. This will be a great 3D blu-ray when Released |

I have 5 movie passes to my theater expiring 8/31. I want to use those passes on 3D movies, so I want to pick the best of the bunch. I'm not sure if any are filmed in native 3D any more. I think all of the ones below are post processed 3D except the animated ones which are rendered in 3D. Below is the list of 3D movies I know about releasing between now and September 1st. Which 5 movies should I use my passes for 3D? Rampage X-Men: The New Mutants Avengers: Infinity War Han Solo Incredibles 2, The Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom Ant-Man and the Wasp Hotel Transylvania 3 My gut feeling is I should save my passes for 3D on other movies and see Rampage in 2D. Comments? Is there a general thread where my question would be more appropriate? |
