I would repurchase all of Spielberg's BD's in UHD for sure. I already did this with E.T. and Close Encounters of the Third Kind.

I've got to say that I think Blade Runner 2049 shot itself up near the top of my list somewhere. It's sound design is absolutely bonkers, from the sound effects to its intense score, to even the shots of K's gun. It's a powerhouse.

Yeah, the audio on the Blu-ray is amazing so I can't even imagine an ATMOS mix for this flick. I think it would have to be a day one purchase just for that alone.

Ha! That's what I get for typing it out on the Droid..

The meltdown scene on Deepwater was bananas! Also the multiplying gold in Gringotts and dragon escape were both pretty sweet.

The Revenant and Blade Runner 2049 make use of all the speaker channels continually throughout the movies, both creating atmospheric soundscapes that greatly enhance the viewing experience.

Pirates of the Caribbean 5: Dead Men Tell No Tales has lots of water sounds that flow and splash all around you, and also with Dolby Atmos speakers from above, a neat effect is when you're in the hold of a ship and there is noise coming from the deck above you.

All great titles but the one that stands out, hands down, is Blade Runner 2049. Every speaker is always engaged and that LFE was felt a block over

That's one of my favorite parts as well. But for real the WHOLE movie AQ is insane I can't wait til this hits 4k in Atmos or X. Might have to rethink the structure of my house

What pisses me off is that it did have Atmos theatrically and Fox neglected to add it. It was a damn good track too.

Probably to keep from spending more money on a 100 GB disc. It's like Lionsgate's rental BD-25s all over again.

Just played Blade Runner 2049 last night and the Atmos track is phenomenal!!!!!

I would add the following to my top list.

Sicario
Kong Skull Island
John Wick Chapter 1
John Wick Chapter 2
Dunkirk
Baby Driver
Atomic Blonde

Can't wait to try The Revenant tonight, even tho it doesn't have an Atmos track.

Blade Runner 2049 is my demo disc for Atmos now. Hands down the best presentation I've heard. Any scene works, very much enjoyed it.

It's "fun" to make lists like this but for me just because the audio is "reference quality" doesn't make it a worthwhile 4k disc.

I was going to buy again the Dark Knight films on 4k. Then I find out Nolan (Director) doesn't believe in changing or upgrading the surround sound formats for "realism" (or something to that affect) to either Atmos or DTS-X. I don't even buy 4k discs unless they ARE encoded with either format. What's the point of "better video" and "bluray format audio (DTS HD or TrueHD)?

Case in point. Some say the new Power Rangers 4k disc is "the best" audio wise. The plot and acting...ummmm...HEH... Have to be a $10.00 disc

I'd love to see Tombstone transferred to 4k...reference quality a/v...audio in either Atomos or DTS-X. Acting was terrific. Photography spot on. Silverado was terrific too. Both films deserve a reference quality refresh transfer to 4k.

Finally was in the mood to watch/listen to Blade Runner 2049. HAHAHAHA!!! Its sound is everywhere. Even on a medium quality 5.2.1 system with a smaller sub it's quite something.

Gravity is another wild mix. These two films showcase Atmos' potential and I'm sure it can only get better under the right audio engineers. These are even more spectacular with a Trinnov Altitude and multiple speakers. Gravity, for one, is often used as a demo at various trade shows, I'm sure 2049 will now be another.

I don’t have a uhd tv as of yet but I bought a 4k player so that I may benefit from the immersive audio not available on bluray.*
Pacific Rim*
Power Rangers
Assassin’s Creed*
Deepwater Horizon
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales*
Bram Stoker’s Dracula
John Wick Chapter 2
War for the Planet of the Apes*
Kong: Skull Island

Default Blade Runner absolutely rocked my theater room.

The Atmos shows no mercy whatsoever so that needs to ne my choice for top disc. This is for 2049, however the original was no slouch either!

My list:

Blade Runner 2049 - this mix defies logic. Even at -25db from reference - it still manages to be a sonic powerhouse. The thing that moves this disc to instant top 5 audio, is that there is no mix quite like it. It is a rare sonic gem that we likely won't find again any time soon. I have never heard my sound system pushed so hard by a movie at such a low level. Like the soundtrack or not, it is a force to reckoned with and is its' own experience when watching the movie. It's just so intense! I love it!!!

Transformers (specifically 3 & 5): If you are ever in a rush to lose some of your hearing, Transformers movies will provide a good shortcut. Transformers movies are mixed on a whole other level. The mixers seemed to have figured out a way to have all speaker channels engaged at the same time, all the time to create a completely immersive sound field, to the point that it can almost be too much on the ears after a while, but wow it's awesome. I wish all sound designers would take some notes, cause this is what home theater is all about.

I don't have time to make a top 10, but these two are so incredible, that it's hard to think of other discs that can match the sheer sonic wall these tracks create.

I'm sure many like me who have heard these discs, thinking on the thousands they've spent on their home theater equipment while listening to these movies, had a little voice in their mind say with an inner smile... "Yeah, it was worth it"...
