Your right, I was just being a little devil's advocate. I certainly don't believe anyone else accused of sexual assault is guilty, and will not believe so until proven in a court of law, but Weinstein, given that he was the first and also all that you mentioned, I feel like I am not being outrageous by believing he is guilty.

Weinstein Co. Reaches Deal With Ron Burkle-Backed Investor Group

http://variety.com/2018/biz/news/wei...et-1202694056/

http://www.darkhorizons.com/weinstei...t-minute-deal/

Quote:
In a last-minute deal, the investment team led by Maria Contreras-Sweet and backed by billionaire Ron Burkle has reached an agreement to acquire The Weinstein Company’s assets with the aim of launching a new, women-led movie studio whose board of directors made up of a majority of women.
Quote:
The acquisition comes just days after it appeared the studio was destined for bankruptcy, and saves about 150 jobs, protects the small businesses owed money by The Weinstein Company, and creates a fund to compensate victims of sexual harassment and abuse.

Here comes the hate.
No hate here. Don't assume that EVERYONE is a hater here.

But the question is how do we know if they won't have biases or won't discriminate themselves?
Besides, the Weinstein name is tainted beyond repair even with this so-called changing of the guard.

All I know is that they better churn out some major hits that the public wants to see or that boat won't stay a float.

I doubt they keep the name.

Here comes the hate.
I called it. I knew they would restructure into a new company (& new name). That way they don't have to legally pay off any debts. Happens all the time in the Corporate World. Having it mostly women is a PR move, but doesn't bother me either way.

The end of an era. It all ends in such an ignominious manner.

Did anyone get the vibe that this deal wouldn't stick?

Wasn't Wind River produced by Weinstein's?

Is that why it was ignored during the award season? Such a shame because that movie kicks ass.

It was, but when the Weinstein scandal first broke Taylor Sheridan phoned up the Weinstein Co. and demanded they remove their name from the production and donate any profits they made to the National Indigenous Women's Resource Center, which to the company's credit they agreed to do. This meant that Wind River didn't receive the usual aggressive Weinstein push for the Oscars, apparently another company (Acacia Entertainment) had to finance whatever push it got, so that probably affected the film's chances of nomination pretty adversely.

Which, coincidentally, is the amount that was likely to come against Weinstein & Co.... but that's academic now, as they've filed for bankruptcy...
